National Assembly Speaker who is also MCP Vice President Catherine Gotani Hara has described President Lazarus Chakwera as one of Malawi’s most caring leaders, noting that his administration has addressed both long-term development and immediate humanitarian needs. Speaking at the MCP 2025 northern region campaign launch on Tuesday, Hara, who is also MCP First Vice President, commended Chakwera for prioritizing relief efforts during crises such as COVID-19, Cyclone Freddy, and climate-related disasters.

“While he had every right to focus on visible infrastructure projects, President Chakwera, like a true father, also responded to urgent challenges facing Malawians. It would have been heartless to ignore those left vulnerable by disasters, which is why he shifted priorities to provide relief while still delivering tangible development,” Hara said.
Local Government Minister Richard Chimwendo Banda also praised Chakwera for ensuring inclusive representation, particularly by appointing leaders from the northern region into his cabinet. “This demonstrates that he is a president for all Malawians,” Chimwendo Banda stated.
