Fifpro official to assess Malawi’s football player association

By Jones Gadama

Desmond Maringwa, a board member of Fifpro Africa, is expected to arrive in Malawi for a supervisory visit to the Football Player Association (FPA).

The visit aims to assess the FPA’s eligibility for Fifpro membership, following the association’s application.

FPA General Secretary Ernest Mangani stated that Maringwa’s visit will evaluate the FPA’s establishment and provide guidance on additional requirements for Fifpro membership.

During his visit, Maringwa will meet with the FPA executive committee and pay courtesy calls to key football stakeholders, including Football Association of Malawi (FAM) President Fleetwood Haiya and Super League of Malawi (Sulom) President Gilbert Mittawa.

The FPA will also present Maringwa to the Football Legends Association (FLA) board members.

This visit is a crucial step in the FPA’s bid to become a recognized member of Fifpro, which could have significant implications for the rights and welfare of football players in Malawi.
