President Dr Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera has assured the people of Nkhotakota that his administration is committed to solving the district’s water challenges and ensuring access to clean, portable water.
Addressing residents at Liwaladzi Trading Centre during a whistle-stop tour, Chakwera said his government is delivering on promises that previous administrations failed to fulfil.

He cited the ongoing construction of the M5 road, noting that past governments took loans for the project but never implemented it.
“This is a government that works on the ground. We are turning pledges into tangible development, and I want to see these initiatives completed for the benefit of all Malawians. That’s why I’m asking for a fresh mandate so we can finish what we started,”Chakwera said
The President emphasized that his leadership is results driven, pointing to ongoing infrastructure projects as proof of his administration’s commitment to national progress.
Malawi Congress Party (MCP) aspiring MP for Liwaladzi Constituency, Overstone Kondowe, praised Chakwera for the road works, describing the old M5 as a “death trap.”
He also commended the President for providing relief maize to households in need within the constituency.
Kondowe said the improvements on the M5 will not only save lives but also boost economic activity in the region, while the relief aid has brought immediate relief to struggling families.
Chakwera’s visit comes as part of a wider campaign to showcase completed and ongoing development projects across the country, with Nkhotakota residents urged to rally behind the government’s vision for continued progress.
