Celebrated South African actor Zolisa Xaluva is expected to be among the special guests at this year’s Malawi Film Awards and Gala, a prestigious event set to celebrate the country’s growing film industry.
Xaluva, who is well-known for his outstanding performances in popular productions such as Generations, Gomora, Gugu and Andile and Kings of Joburg, will join local filmmakers, producers and actors at the glamorous ceremony.
The event, which is being organized by the Film Association of Malawi (FAMA), will take place at the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe from December 18 to 19, 2025.
According to FAMA officials, this year’s edition aims to recognize excellence in Malawian filmmaking while also fostering regional collaboration and inspiration through interaction with established figures like Xaluva.
The gala will feature film screenings, award presentations and live performances from local artists, all designed to showcase Malawi’s growing talent and creative potential.
Organizers say Xaluva’s participation is expected to inspire many young Malawian filmmakers and actors who look up to African stars breaking boundaries in the entertainment industry.
The Malawi Film Awards and Gala has grown to become one of the country’s premier creative events, serving as a platform to promote both artistic talent and the country’s cultural identity through film.
