As the Malawi marks 62 years since attaining independence,The United Democratic Front (UDF) has called on Malawians to embrace what it describes as a “Third Liberation, a national drive aimed at creating jobs, expanding economic opportunities and restoring dignity
In an Independence Day statement released on Monday, UDF President Atupele Muluzi said Malawi’s post-independence journey has been shaped by two defining historical milestones which include the attainment of independence and the restoration of multi-party democracy.

“The First Liberation gave us independence,The Second Liberation restored multi-party democracy.
Today, our generation is called to lead the Third Liberation, the liberation that delivers a better life for every Malawian,” He said.
Muluzi added that the proposed third Liberation should focus on creating sustainable employment, broadening economic opportunities, strengthening public institutions and ensuring that national development benefits all citizens rather than a privileged few.
According to the UDF leader, achieving meaningful economic transformation will require collective commitment and a shared national vision.
