Land revolution! How Minister Chimwemwe Chipungu is unlocking wealth for Malawians under APM

By Jones Gadama

Under the visionary leadership of President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, the Ministry of Lands is undergoing a transformation, and the man driving it is Hon. Chimwemwe Chipungu.

Minister Chipungu has brought new energy to land administration. His focus has been simple: make land accessible, transparent and productive for every Malawian. And he is delivering.

Thanks to President Mutharika’s directive to deal with land corruption and delays, the ministry has digitized land records and fast-tracked title deeds.

For the first time, ordinary citizens in both urban and rural areas can process land documents without running from office to office. Queues are shorter, bribes are being dealt with, and service is faster.

Chipungu has also championed customary land registration. This APM policy is protecting village land and giving chiefs and communities legal power over their land. It means no more land grabbing and no more confusion.

Families can now sleep knowing their land is secure because government has put systems in place.

In cities, the minister has opened new housing plots and streamlined approvals to deal with the housing crisis.

Investors are now confident to build because the process is clear and quick. The President’s vision of turning land into an economic driver is being fulfilled.

All this is possible because President Mutharika gave clear direction: land must benefit the people, not a few elites.

The President’s empathetic leadership understands that land is dignity, land is food, land is business. He is kind, patriotic and came to save Malawi from years of mismanagement.

Minister Chipungu, working under APM’s guidance, has become the face of order in the land sector. He is firm, he is accessible, and he is patriotic.

He holds regular engagements with chiefs, councilors and the public to hear their challenges.

Malawians can now say with pride that their land matters are in safe hands.

This is the APM effect – visionary leadership producing results on the ground. With Professor Mutharika setting the vision and Chipungu executing it, Malawi’s land sector has a future.
