Minister of Gender, Children, Disability and Social Welfare, Hon. Mary Navicha, has hailed President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika’s first year in office as a year of real action for women and the most vulnerable Malawians.
Speaking to Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC), Navicha said the Mutharika administration has put women’s economic empowerment and social protection at the very heart of government, proving that the President is a leader who keeps his promises.
She said focus has been deliberately placed on food security, strengthening social protection systems and creating real economic opportunities for women to improve their livelihoods and feed their families with dignity.
According to Navicha, the administration has moved swiftly to strengthen support for vulnerable households to ensure that no one is left behind under President Mutharika’s servant leadership.

She further praised the President for investing heavily in infrastructure that is already improving access to essential services such as health, education and markets, especially for women, children, older persons and persons with disabilities.
Navicha said this people-centred approach shows President Mutharika is not just rebuilding the economy but rebuilding hope for every Malawian household.
Under President Mutharika, she said, women are being empowered not with handouts but with opportunities to stand on their own.
