Blue Eagles extend lead in the TNM Super League, Wanderers lose at home

Blue Eagles FC have opened a 5-point gap at the top of the TNM Super League after beating Lilongwe giants Silver Strikers 1-0 at Nankhaka Stadium.

Substitute Laurent Banda scored the only goal of the match at 90 minutes after connecting a throw in from Ian Chinyama.

The win means the area 30 side has now accumulated 19 points from seven games while second placed Nyasa Big Bullets have 14 points but the People’s team have a game in hand.

Elsewhere, Kamuzu Barracks moved to third on the log table with 13 points from six games following their 2-1 win against Mighty Wanderers at Kamuzu Stadium on Sunday.

Kelvin Hangada scored both goals for KB while Adekeke Kalaole scored Wanderers’ consolation.

TN Stars who are perched at bottom of the log table and fellow strugglers Red Lions played out to a 1-all draw in a match that took place at Kasungu Stadium.

Symon Chimenga scored for the Kasungu-based side while Chikoti Chirwa scored Red Lions’ goal.

After a 1-nil win on Saturday against Ekwendeni Hammers, Civil Service United went on to loose by the same margin at the hands of Rumphi United on Sunday. Trouble Kajani scored the only goal of the match that took place at Rumphi Stadium.

On Wednesday, Nyasa Big Bullets will have a chance to reduce the gap with Blue Eagles as they take on Moyale Barracks at Mzuzu Stadium.
