Vice President Dr Jane Mayemu Ansah has called on young pastors to use their positions of influence to promote peace, unity, strong family values and responsible citizenship across Malawi.
Dr Ansah made the call on Friday, August 14, 2026, when the Young Pastors Network of Malawi (YPA), led by Webster Kameme, visited her at Capital Hill in Lilongwe.
The meeting provided an opportunity for the pastors to outline their vision and discuss ways in which the church can play a greater role in national development, good governance and the strengthening of moral standards in society.
The YPA also raised the need for pastors to receive appropriate training and skills to help them participate effectively in national affairs while maintaining their pastoral responsibilities.
Dr Ansah welcomed the engagement, praising the network for presenting its aspirations and seeking dialogue on issues affecting the country.
She said the church remains an important institution in building communities founded on integrity, responsibility and respect for others.
The Vice President urged the pastors to remain faithful to their calling and use their platforms to encourage constructive change, particularly within local communities.
She also stressed that participation in public affairs should be grounded in strong ethical principles and a commitment to serving society.
Dr Ansah further encouraged the YPA to strengthen cooperation with other stakeholders and continue contributing to national dialogue and efforts aimed at improving the welfare and development of Malawi.
