The Blantyre Sports Club (BSC) is gearing up to host the inaugural Winter Tour Championship this Friday, promising an exciting display of golfing prowess.
The tournament, which has garnered sponsorship from prominent brands such as Rainbow Paints Limited and Apple Guy, is expected to attract 150 golfers from across the country.
According to BSC golf captain Mike Juma, the tournament will feature golfers competing in various divisions, including Pro-Am and Championship sections, which will battle it out over three days.
Golfers in the A, B, Seniors, and Ladies sections will compete for two days, showcasing their skills and vying for top honors.

The Winter Tour Championship is a significant addition to the Golf Union of Malawi’s (GUoM) calendar, following the recent Summer Championship.
Juma expressed the club’s ambition to make the tournament an annual event, providing golfers with experience that mirrors international standards.
“We have set a goal to host at least three championship-level tournaments each year,” Juma said, adding that,”The Winter Tour adds to our growing portfolio alongside the Blantyre Open Championship and the recently-launched Summer Tour. We’re excited to provide golfers with opportunities to develop their skills and compete at the highest level.”
Rainbow Paints Limited, one of the tournament’s main sponsors, has expressed enthusiasm for the partnership.
Bruno Silas, head of marketing and communications at Rainbow Paints, highlighted the company’s commitment to engaging with the golfing community.
“We’re excited to support this new tournament and engage with the golfing community,” Silas said, adding that,”It’s an honour to be the inaugural sponsor, and we look forward to being part of this exciting event.”
