The Central East Education Division (CEED) has encouraged secondary schools to adopt Chayamba Secondary School’s graduation initiative, which recognises students who successfully complete their secondary education.
CEED Chief Secondary Schools Management Officer Harriet Kayira made the call on Friday during a graduation ceremony organised by the school to honour 95 students who scored below 20 points in the 2026 Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) examinations.
Kayira said the initiative provides an opportunity to recognise academic achievement and encourage other schools to introduce similar ceremonies to celebrate their students’ educational milestones.
Chayamba Secondary School Headteacher Francis Kazithe said the graduation initiative reflects the true meaning of graduation by acknowledging students who have successfully completed their secondary education.

He said recognising students’ achievements through such ceremonies can help promote a culture of academic appreciation and encourage learners to remain committed to their educational journeys.
The school also emerged as Malawi’s best district boarding secondary school in 2026, further highlighting its performance in the country’s secondary education sector.
The ceremony provided an opportunity for the school community to celebrate the achievements of its learners and recognise their progress through secondary education.
