Chipungu and APM deliver a bold new vision: Decent green and sustainable housing for all Malawians

By Staff Reporter

In a decisive move to transform Malawi’s urban landscape, the Honourable Chimwemwe Mazabuka Chipungu, Minister of Lands and Urban Development in His Excellency President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika’s DPP-led government, on Thursday met with the Executive Director of the Malawi Housing Corporation, Mr. Bob Chimkango, and his team.

The dynamic and visionary Minister, widely hailed for his tireless work ethic and people-first approach, charted a bold new path for decent and sustainable housing in Malawi.

Drawing inspiration from Morocco’s model cities, Hon. Chipungu emphasized the urgent need to integrate lush green spaces, proper planning, and environmental beauty into every housing project.

“Under President APM’s transformative leadership, we are building more than houses. We are building dignified, clean, green and attractive communities for Malawians today and for generations to come,” Chipungu stated with passion and conviction.

The hardworking Minister made it clear that his Ministry is committed to delivering affordable, secure and quality homes that uplift lives and restore pride in our neighborhoods.

Hon. Chipungu’s forward-thinking leadership and unwavering dedication continue to set a new gold standard for urban development in Malawi — development rooted in dignity, foresight and service to the people.
