There was joy and ululation at Nthunduwala-Zithe Farm in Kasungu District on Wednesday, 14 October 2026, as the ever-hardworking and people-centred Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Honourable Chimwemwe Mazabuka Chipungu, officially launched the allocation of residential and agricultural land to 132 displaced families, bringing hope and dignity back to families who had lost everything.

The function, which was filled with excitement and emotional scenes as mothers, fathers and children celebrated, is a clear demonstration of the commitment of the Government under the wise and compassionate leadership of His Excellency Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika to helping affected families rebuild their lives, restore their livelihoods and secure a better future, proving once again that this government does not abandon its people.
Speaking during the historic launch, Honourable Chipungu, who continues to prove why he is regarded as one of the most hardworking, loyal and visionary Ministers in President Mutharika’s Cabinet, said a total of 132 families have been verified as beneficiaries of the programme, with each family being allocated land for both residential and agricultural purposes, a move that will permanently solve their landlessness and hunger.
The Minister, who was visibly moved by the plight of the families, emphasized the importance of transparency and fairness throughout the allocation process to ensure that every eligible family receives its rightful share of land, warning that no corruption or favouritism will be tolerated under his watch because President Mutharika’s government is a government of justice and fairness for all Malawians.
Honourable Chipungu also encouraged the beneficiaries to use their residential plots to build decent homes and to use their agricultural land to grow food, enhance food security and generate income for their families, saying land is wealth and when government gives land it gives life.
He further called on traditional leaders, local authorities and surrounding communities to work together to ensure a peaceful resettlement process and to promote improved livelihoods for the affected families, saying development can only happen where there is peace and unity.
With this latest achievement at Nthunduwala-Zithe Farm, Honourable Chimwemwe Mazabuka Chipungu has once again delivered, fulfilling yet another campaign promise of His Excellency Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika who promised during the campaign that his government would restore land to the landless, give dignity to the poor and ensure that every Malawian has a place to call home, and indeed APM is delivering through his trusted Minister.
From Nantipwiri to Area 54 to Nthunduwala, the story is the same, Minister Chipungu is on the ground solving problems that were ignored for years, and the people of Kasungu today have witnessed with their own eyes that the APM government is a caring government that keeps its promises.
