Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development Hon. Chimwemwe Chipungu has proven that he is a hardworking and development-conscious leader after rolling out massive development projects worth billions in Luchenza Municipality and Constituency.
Chipungu, who is also Member of Parliament for the area, has embarked on a transformative development drive aimed at improving education infrastructure and the road network, a move that has excited residents and chiefs.
The projects include the construction of two modern staff houses at Luchenza LEA Primary School, valued at over K500 million, and the rehabilitation of Market Street Road in Nthundu Ward, valued at over K1 billion.
The Market Street Road will cover approximately 800 metres with an average width of 7.5 metres to improve accessibility and ease the movement of people and goods within the municipality.
In addition, the Minister inspected ground works for the construction of a magnificent upstairs classroom block at Luchenza Catholic Primary School, valued at a whopping K1.3 billion.
The project is expected to expand learning facilities and provide a conducive learning environment for pupils who have been learning under difficult conditions.
The projects fall under the Reformed Constituency Development Fund (CDF) which His Excellency President Prof. Arthur Peter Mutharika has increased to K1.5 billion for each constituency, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to taking development to the people.
Speaking during the inspection, Chipungu said development is the priority of President Mutharika’s government and that no constituency will be left behind.
Residents praised Chipungu as a humble and action-oriented leader who does not just talk but delivers on the ground.
Luchenza Municipality Mayor, Grivin Namukopo, commended Chipungu and President Mutharika for the projects, saying community members will be involved in implementing the initiatives, a move that will give local people an opportunity to participate directly and benefit economically.
“This is what Malawians wanted. President Mutharika has given us a hardworking Minister who loves his people. Hon. Chipungu is transforming Luchenza,” said one resident.
Under the leadership of President Mutharika and hardworking ministers like Chimwemwe Chipungu, Luchenza is witnessing real development and Malawians are assured that the country is in safe hands.
