Speaking during the launch , Vice President Dr Jane Ansah appealed to Malawians to refrain from committing suicide, urging citizens facing difficulties to seek help and support during challenging times.
Dr Ansah said life is precious and that challenges, no matter how overwhelming they may appear, can be overcome with the right support.
The Vice President noted with concern that cases of suicide are on the rise in some parts of the country, often linked to economic hardships, family disputes and mental health challenges.
She encouraged Malawians experiencing stress, depression or other mental health issues to speak out and seek assistance from trusted family members, friends, religious and traditional leaders, as well as health professionals.
Dr Ansah also called on communities to promote love, unity and care for one another, saying strong social support systems are critical in preventing the loss of life.
Her appeal follows concerns raised by Inkosi ya Makhosi M’mbelwa V, who called on government to intervene following an increase in suicide cases in Mzimba and other parts of the country.
Over four million Malawians are facing deepening food crisis that is why President Mutharika declared a state of disaster highlighting the severity of the situation.Â
Prolonged dry spells, erratic rainfall, and rising food prices have left families struggling to access enough food, with many communities already experiencing hunger and malnutrition. President Mutharika has vowed no one will die of hunger.
