A Malawian UK based former British army soldier Allan Mandindi has been awarded a Manchester Peace award after coming through as a finalist in finding people who have done great works in their community within the city of Manchester.
According to the award organisers CARISMA, The Awards recognises and applauds the efforts of people who have made a positive difference to the lives of others in the community, but also marks the achievements of people who have had the courage and determination to move away from crime and violence.

Receiving the award Allan Mandindi said he was happy to have been nominated and making it as a finalist “It is indeed an honour and by the grace of God. At one point in my life in Malawi i was at a village and never thought i could achieve this. Everything in life through hard work and passion is possible” At the event that took place at the Hotel Football ,Old Trafford Manchester , Mandindi went home crystal award along with a certificate.
Mandindi , a well-known political scientist is also a very active member of his community. He runs the Malawi Heritage UK , an organisation that work with the youths in the city to develop their talents as well as promoting and preserving Malawi Culture among Malawians living in diaspora.

Each winner is also featured in the local Manchester Evening News. Winners were picked from six categories that include Community Cohesion/Diversity Award: Individual or group who have been instrumental in bringing together diverse groups in the community for positive change. Young Persons Award: Young person (aged 11-18) who has made an outstanding contribution to their school, college or community.Positive Role Model Award: Person who has had most positive impact on young people through their lives.Turn Around Award: Individual who has made greatest turnaround in attitude/behaviour to benefit his/her community.Peace Activist Award: Person or group who have made a difference through campaigning for peace and justice.Manchester Peace Award: Individual who has made the most outstanding contribution to their community
