First Capital Bank has reaffirmed its partnership with Beit-Cure Children’s Hospital by providing K20 million in support of the hospital’s upcoming charity golf tournament. The event is scheduled for September 6 at the Country Club Limbe in Blantyre. Dubbed ‘Swing for a Smile – Golfing to Transform Lives’, the tournament aims to raise funds for surgical and rehabilitation treatment for 120 children.
During a symbolic cheque presentation, the bank’s head of corporate investment banking, Nagesh Shrivastava, said the continued support reflects FCB’s commitment to ensuring children with treatable conditions receive life-changing treatment. “Supporting vulnerable children is one of FCB’s major pillars of Corporate Social Responsibility,” he stated. “With a lot of the major funders of the health sector such as the United States of America exiting, we believe contributions from the local corporates and individuals can make a big difference.”

Beit-Cure Malawi executive director Dr. Rhoda Jura Kriek expressed gratitude for the bank’s support and voiced hope that other well-wishers would follow the gesture. According to the hospital’s director of programs and development, Davie Simengwa, the facility has treated 2,500 children this year and aims to increase its capacity to treat at least 2,900.
