Independent presidential candidate Smart Swira has formally submitted his nomination papers to the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC), solidifying his bid for the September 16th General Elections.
Swira announced Jonathan Matonga as his running mate for the upcoming tripartite elections and signed the MEC’s code of conduct, pledging to uphold fair and democratic campaign practices.
Addressing the media after submitting his nomination, Swira outlined his vision for governance, vowing to restore order in government and strengthen anti-corruption efforts if elected.
MEC Chairperson Justice Annabel Mtalimanja commended Swira for completing the nomination process and called on all presidential candidates to adhere to the electoral body’s ethical guidelines throughout the campaign period.
