By Rahim Abdul

Indonesia has commended Malawi Police Deputy Inspector General of Police Dr. Noel Kayira for his role in the operation that led to the successful rescue of British national Nusrat Osman, who was kidnapped in Blantyre last week.

Indonesia’s Honorary Consul in Malawi, Tariq Kidy, says Kayira’s involvement in the operation demonstrated what he describes as leadership from the front during a dangerous police mission.

In a statement seen by this publication,Kidy has expressed his profound respect and appreciation to the Malawi Police Service(MPS) following the successful rescue of Osman.

Kidy specifically recognised Kayira for his role in the operation, describing his presence during the mission as an example of leadership at the highest level of the police service.

According to the MPS, Kayira sustained a gunshot wound during a police raid at a compound in Chadzunda, Blantyre.

Despite the risks involved, the operation continued and resulted in the safe recovery of Osman, who had been abducted by armed gunmen.

Osman was kidnapped last Friday in the Mount Pleasant area of Blantyre, prompting a police operation to locate and rescue her.
