Kamuzu Stadium chaos lands suspects in court

By Rahim Abdul

The violent scenes that erupted during the FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and Blue Eagles TNM Super League match on August 10 have now shifted from the pitch to the courtroom, with police arresting two suspects and warning that more arrests are imminent.

Those arrested are Paul Majawa, 26, from Ndirande, and Edward Chilabade, 23, from Mbayani Township.

Detective Sub-Inspector Willard Matupa of Chichiri Police said the pair faces charges of public disorder and malicious damage after allegedly stoning and provoking chaos at Kamuzu Stadium.

They are expected to appear in court today, and investigations are ongoing to identify other perpetrators through CCTV footage and eyewitness reports.

The incident adds to Bullets’ growing disciplinary troubles this season.

The Super League of Malawi (Sulom) recently slapped the club with a K5.7 million fine after an unidentified fan invaded the pitch and stole a towel belonging to former Blue Eagles goalkeeper Joshua Waka on the same day.

While Bullets CEO Albert Chigoga has not commented on the arrests.
