Kasungu Police Station has reported a significant 17% decrease in crime rate from January to June 2025 compared to the same period last year, when a 3% decrease was recorded.
According to the station’s bi-annual report, cases of robbery, burglary and theft, indecent assault, and sexual intercourse with a minor have decreased.
Deputy spokesperson Miracle Hauli attributed the reduction to various initiatives, including sweeping and raid operations, community policing sensitization meetings, and rapid response to emergency calls.

However, Hauli expressed concern over the increase in road accidents, which rose by 7.8% during the same period, compared to 4% last year.
“We are enhancing law enforcement, optimizing traffic management strategies, and providing support services to reduce crimes that are still on the rise,” Hauli said.
The station is also working to address rising incidents of suicide and motorcycle theft in the district.
The police station’s efforts to engage with the community and improve response times have contributed to the overall decrease in crime rate.
However, the rise in road accidents and other crimes remains a concern, and the station is working to address these issues through enhanced law enforcement and support services.
