Madame Chakwera praises Govt for working with churches to provide Girl Education

First Lady, Madame Monica Chakwera, today graced the Likuni Girls Secondary School’s thanksgiving mass, celebrating 60 years of the school’s existence, which was held under the theme: “Support Girl Child Education.”

In her address during the commemoration which was held at Likuni Girls Secondary School campus in Lilongwe, Madame Chakwera applauded the school’s management and staff for making her who she is today as she is an alumna of Likuni Girls Secondary School.

In addition to that, she asked girls to aim high despite their status and set standards on how far they want to go with education as they all have a chance to excel.

The First Lady also praised government for working together with different churches in providing girls with education.

She also asked well-wishers to take part in educating needy girl students.

In his remarks, Archbishop of the Lilongwe Archdiocese of the Roman Catholic, Desmond Tambala thanked Madam Chakwera for honouring her invitation to attend the occasion.

Minister of Mining, Monica Changanamuno, Minister of Health, Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda, Minister of Gender, Community Development and Social Welfare, Jean Sendeza and other government officials also attended the event.
