Malawi Records Strong Pass Rates in 2025 National Examinations

The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has announced the 2025 Primary School Leaving Certificate (PSLCE) and Junior Certificate of Education (JCE) results, declaring them free of leaks during a ceremony at the Bingu International Convention Centre. MANEB Board Chairperson Professor Samson Sajidu highlighted the seamless exam administration, supported by e-registration and e-payment systems . 



A total of 216,972 out of 247,958 PSLCE candidates passed, achieving an 87.50% pass rate, with male candidates outperforming females at 90.61% versus 84.56%. The JCE results saw 122,977 passes out of 158,451 candidates, marking a 77.61% pass rate—a 6.41% improvement from 2024. Notably, male candidates recorded an 81.98% pass rate compared to females’ 73.49% . 

Dr. Grace Milner, Director of Basic Education, revealed that 103,261 learners were selected for Form One, reflecting a 47.59% transition rate. Top-performing institutions included Ludzi Girls Secondary School (JCE) and Mkazomba Primary School (PSLCE) . MANEB dismissed social media rumors about premature result releases, directing the public to obtain official results through schools . The results underscore progress in Malawi’s education sector, attributed to enhanced teaching strategies and equitable resource distribution .
