The Muslim Association of Malawi (MAM) has called on Malawians to remain calm and maintain peace as the nation awaits the final official results of the 2025 general elections.
In a press statement dated 20th September 2025 and signed by MAM Secretary General, Alhaj Dr. Twaibu Lawe, the association commended Malawians for turning out in large numbers to exercise their right to vote on 16th September 2025.

Voters elected the president, members of parliament, and local government councillors of their choice in a process that MAM described as free and fair.
According to the statement, the voting process faced minor challenges, particularly network problems that caused delays in some areas.
However, when the designated voting period ended, counting of votes began under the watchful eyes of monitors and candidates, ensuring transparency.
The votes were then sent to constituency and district tally centers for further verification.
“No serious interferences were reported at the polling stations or tally centers, which is a clear indication of a peaceful and credible electoral process,” the statement read.
MAM praised the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) for continuously updating the public on official results as they become available. It also commended the country’s security agencies for their professionalism and dedication in safeguarding the election process.
“As we await the final results, we appeal to all Malawians to remain calm, maintain peace, and respect one another regardless of political differences,” said Dr. Lawe.
The 2025 elections have been one of the most closely contested in Malawi’s history, with high voter turnout recorded across the country. MAM’s call comes amid growing anticipation as political parties and citizens eagerly await MEC’s final announcement.
