MCP Campaign Chief Urges Northern Region to Support Chakwera, Citing Development Progress

By Wadza Botomani

Malawi Congress Party (MCP) campaign director Moses Kunkuyu has stated that people in the Northern Region have every reason to follow President Lazarus Chakwera’s leadership, pointing to visible development projects as clear evidence of progress.

Speaking at the Mzimba Stadium during President Chakwera’s rally today, Kunkuyu emphasized that Northern Region residents should remember past injustices inflicted upon them by previous political leaders. He cited the controversial quota system in university selection and the killing of 20 youths on July 20, 2011, as examples of past wrongs that should never be repeated.

Kunkuyu urged Northern Region voters to support MCP leader Dr. Lazarus Chakwera in upcoming elections, arguing that the current administration has delivered tangible development. He highlighted various infrastructure and social projects implemented in the region under Chakwera’s leadership as proof of the government’s commitment to equitable growth.

The rally formed part of the ruling party’s efforts to consolidate support in the Northern Region ahead of future elections, with leaders showcasing development achievements while drawing contrasts with previous administrations.
