MCP Diaspora RSA holds welcome gala for visiting Cabinet Ministers

The South African chapter of the Malawi Congress Party Diaspora Network on Friday evening held a special welcome event for some of the cabinet ministers who were in South Africa as part of the President Chakwera state visit.

The event which took place in Prestoria was patronised by Homeland Security Minister Hon Richard Chimwendo Banda, Trade Minister Hon Sosten Gwengwe , Minister of Health Khumbize Chiponda  and Labour Minster Hon Ken Kandodo.

Statement available to 247Malawi issued by MCP RSA Secretary Mphatso Banda said the diaspora network felt it necessary to welcome the ministers to South Africa in a special way “ It was a special event  graced by 30 people who despite being in work during the day, still had the energy to come and spend time with our visitors” said Banda. ”We appreciate the gesture shown by the Ministers  in making themselves available to meet us”  he added.

In their remarks ,Ministers Gwengwe and Chimwendo thanked the MCP wing for organising such event on short notice.  The event was spiced up by music from some Malawi singers based in the rainbow nation including Charles Nsaku.

President Chakwera was in South Africa for a two day bilateral visit  where among other things he held discussions with South African Incumbent Cyril Ramaphosa  on issues meant to strengthen the relationship between the two countries

MCP RSA Country Director Amos Banda , who missed the event as he is on a visit to Malawi had great words for his colleagues for the great job  they did in hosting the ministers “ I am proud of the team , job well done” . MCP Diaspora Network outgoing Chairperson Patricia Chimangeni had similar words  as she applauded the members in South Africa  for such a great event.
