The Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has reiterated its unwavering commitment to addressing youth unemployment by focusing on strategic economic initiatives.
Speaking during a radio programme on Times, MCP Secretary General Richard Chimwendo Banda emphasized the party’s continued efforts to empower young people across the country.

Chimwendo Banda, who also serves as the Minister of Local Government, outlined several measures the MCP-led government has implemented to stimulate job creation.
He cited the revamping of the mining sector as one of the key achievements aimed at generating employment opportunities.
In addition, Chimwendo Banda highlighted enhanced irrigation systems in the agriculture sector as another critical step towards boosting productivity and creating jobs.
He also pointed to the distribution of loans under the National Economic Empowerment Fund (NEEF) as a practical approach to fostering youth entrepreneurship.
“Together we can create more than one million jobs in the country if we can embrace this ideology of venturing into getting NEEF loans for agriculture and other technical businesses,” said Chimwendo Banda.
He stressed that the youth, in particular, have a vital role to play in driving economic growth by taking advantage of available opportunities.
Chimwendo Banda also made a strong case for the electorate to re-elect the MCP in the next elections, citing the party’s development record.
He mentioned infrastructure developments such as improved road networks as tangible proof of MCP’s performance in government.
The Minister further noted the promotion of essential public service workers, including teachers and police officers, as a testament to the party’s commitment to national progress.
According to Chimwendo Banda, these developments demonstrate the MCP’s ability to deliver on its promises and uplift the lives of ordinary Malawians.
The message from the party’s Secretary General reinforces the MCP’s position as a party focused on inclusive development and youth empowerment.
