Speaker of the National Assembly and Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Vice President Catherine Gotani Hara has called on Nkhatabay residents to support the MCP in the September 16 general election, pointing to development projects as proof of the party’s commitment.
Addressing a rally at Mkumbira Resource Centre in Nkhatabay Central, Hara listed national road upgrades and the establishment of mega farms as key achievements, emphasizing that Nkhatabay has also benefited from visible improvements.

“You have witnessed what the MCP can deliver. We are the party that brings real change,” she said, cautioning voters against falling for opposition promises.
Hara also advised aspiring MCP candidates to remain humble and engage closely with communities, specifically urging Ian Changa Kaunda, the party’s shadow MP for Nkhatabay Central, to demonstrate respectful leadership.
Kaunda, in his remarks, vowed unwavering loyalty to the MCP and encouraged voters to keep the party in power, stating that Malawi is progressing under its governance.
Senior Chief Mkumbira echoed the sentiment, citing local developments, including a major water project, as evidence of the area’s transformation under the current administration.
