Mwenefumbo complaints thrown out as MEC Declares Mwalwanda, Boti winners

The Malawi Electoral commission has officially announced winners of the recent parliamentary  by elections that took place in Karonga Central and Lilongwe North west at a ceremony that took place in Lilongwe, MEC chair Justice Kachale declared MCP candidates Leonard Mwalwanda  and Mphatso Boti winners respectively. Issaic Odges  was  declared winner as Ward Councillor for Makhwira South Ward in Chikwawa. Out of over 50 political parties that are registered with the registrar of political parties, only five participated in the elections

The commission took time to  applaud Karonga Central constituency for high voter mobilization in a by-election and has since said other constituencies should learn from the constituency.

The commission however condemned violence in Karonga Central constituency and has since called on the police to investigate the matter and ensure that culprits are brought to book. Justice Kachale in his statement on the said Police have to act on the matter to ensure that such malpractices do not occur again.

MEC has  also dismissed complaints of irregularities  from Karonga Central Constituency candidate Frank Mwenefumbo and Lilongwe North West candidate Goodwell Ndiwo Banda    on the basis that they lacked merit.The commission has since declared the results to be credible and have met acceptable standards.
