Gibo Pearson’s ‘Izathera ma penalty ‘ reaches 1 million views on YouTube

Gibo Pearson’s hit-song ‘Izathera ma penalty’ has reached 1 million views on YouTube a year after its release.

Reacting to the news, the Phalombe Music star said he was greatful to God for the success and thanked his fans for the support they have been showing him in his music career.



Other songs by Gibo Pearson which are also doing well on YouTube include Atambwali, Budget as well as Go Komko which he featured veteran musician Joseph Mkasa.

FOMO FC in the elite league

Friends of Mulanje orphans (FOMO) FC has earned promotion into the TNM Super League following a 4-2 post match penalties win over Ntopwa FC at Kamuzu Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The penalties followed a 1 all draw in the final match of the Southern Region Football League(SRFL)

The Mulanje-based side were first to score from Chimwenwe Kamowa’s powerful header after just 4 minutes, but Ntopwa FC equalized in the same half from a Japhet Kanzimbi free kick.

In the shootout, FOMO FC managed to score four penalty kicks, while Ntopwa managed to score two penalties only.

As champions, FOMO recieved K5 million prize while Ntopwa went away with K2 million as runners-up.

The development implies that new representatives from all regions have been known.

The Northern region will have Baka City, the central region Kawinga FC and Fomo picking the southern region slot in the Tnm super league.

Taziona Chigwe wins K10 million in Standard Bank Phuka Incubation Program

Taziona Chigwe, an operations manager at Teron Agro Limited on Saturday was announced the winner of K10 million in the Standard Bank Phuka Incubation Program.

He was declared the winner out of other four Small and Medium Enterprises after completing a six-week business incubation program.

In an interview with local media,Chigwe expressed excitement over the good news.



He said they will invest the money in the production of floating fish feed which has led to their victory.

On his part, Standard Bank Chief Executive Officer Phillip Madinga said the initiative was introduced considering that Agriculture anchors the country’s economy.

Phuka Incubation program is a partnership between Standard Bank Plc and Lilongwe-based Synergy Labs.

Kawinga FC changes name to Creck Sporting Club

The newly promoted TNM Super League side Kawinga FC, has undergone a name change to Creck Sporting Club.

The club’s owner Apostle Clifford Kawinga made the announcement at a dinner he organized on Sunday night in the capital Lilongwe.

Kawinga said the decision is a strategic move to open doors for potential investors or partners as the team competes in Malawi’s elite league.



The patron also unveiled a brand-new bus to be used by the team in the forthcoming season.

Kawinga FC emerged champions of the 2023/24 Central Region Chipiku League after thumping fellow contenders St Gabriel Zitha by 4 – 1 in a highly tense match played at Nankhaka Stadium on January 28,2024.

The team finished top of the league with 53 points while Zitha came second with 47 points.

President Chakwera joins the people of Namibia in mourning the death of President Geingob

President Chakwera has joined the people of Namibia in mourning the death of its leader, President Hage Geingob.

A message released by State House , President Chakwera said he was saddened by the death of Geingob who he described as a “dear brother and colleague”

President Chakwera went further to say ” His leadership and dedication to Namibia and Africa were admirable throughout the continent”

Hage Geingob, aged 82, has passed away in a hospital early on Sunday.

His death was announced by the Namibian president office via a social media post on Sunday earlier this morning.

This comes weeks after his cancer diagnosis, disclosed last month after a medical check-up. Geingob, in office since 2015, had previously survived prostate cancer.

An excerpt of the statement on X reads thus,

“Fellow Namibians, It is with utmost sadness and regret that I inform you that our beloved Dr. Hage G. Geingob, the President of the Republic of Namibia has passed on today, Sunday 4 February 2024 at around 00h04 at Lady Pohamba Hospital where he was receiving medical treatment from his medical team.
At his side, was his dear wife Madame Monica Geingos and his children. His medical team, as I informed the nation only yesterday has been trying its utmost best to ensure that our President recovers. Regrettably, notwithstanding the team’s spirited effort to save his life, sadly, fellow Namibians, President Geingob passed on. “

President Hage G. Geingob of Namibia, was a prominent figure in a struggle for independence from apartheid-era South Africa who later became the country’s first prime minister and a long-serving head of state.
