Nde’Ifeyo Entertainment Company has paid tribute to renowned videographer Chipie Khonje for his contributions to the success of the record label (now defunct) which is regarded as one of the most successful record labels to have worked in the country.
In a Facebook post Nde’ Ifeyo founders Ken Zizwa Limwame and Khumbo Kabuzi Munthali described Khonje as the most talented videographer who played a big role in the success of the company.

“It is hard to describe how much we appreciate the contribution you made to our success. Your creative transitions and the way you captured the mood in the videos was top notch. It was an honor having you on our creative journey Chipiliro Khonje,” reads the post.
Khonje who is currently based in the United States of America(USA), was the man behind the successful music videos of Nde’feyo artists like Unamata by Piksy, Sinditha Kumvetsa by Onesimus (then Armstrong) and Udalire by Maskal.
This year, Nde’Ifeyo has organised a number of shows in the country to celebrate the legacy of the record label.
The company has brought together some of its former artists namely Piksy, Onesimus and Maskal who is currently staying in the USA.
Apart from the trio, Nde’Ifeyo also signed Bucci, McLuther, Trumel and Mada Ngoleka.
Mighty Mukuru Wanderers has signed 2023 TNM Super League top goal scorer ‘Clement Nyondo’ from Dedza Dynamos.
The player signed for the club on Saturday afternoon after the two teams reached an agreement on the player’s transfer.

Both Dedza Dynamos’ Administration Officer Gaston Kamkosi Banda and Wanderers’ Chief Executive Officer, Roosevelt Mpinganjira have confirmed the development but could not come clear on the details of the contract.
Kamkosi Banda has sonce thanked the player for his service to the club and has wished him success as he starts a new journey with the Nomads.

The International Press Institute (IPI) global network has condemned threats against Malawi investigative journalist Gregory Gondwe by the Malawi Defence Forces after he published an investigation exposing corruption in the supply of military equipment.
Gondwe, who works with the Platform for Investigative Journalism in Malawi, said that he is currently in hiding and fearing for his life.
In the wake of his second exposure regarding Zuneth Sattar and the Malawi Defence Force (MDF), Gondwe finds himself in a dangerous. Some Military sources, have advised Gregory Gondwe to go into hiding. Some top government officials have equally confirmed that the MDF intend to arrest Gondwe for what they claim ‘endangering state security’ — what state security are they lying about?
Journalists in danger
The range of threats journalists are confronted with include murder, kidnapping, hostage-taking, offline and online harassment, intimidation, enforced disappearances, arbitrary detention and torture. What Gregory Gondwe is experiencing today is an example of intimidation, planned disappearances, staged detention. This is another example of corruption fighting back.
Other threats against journalists, online and off-line, continue to grow, especially in non-conflict zones. Journalist imprisonment is at a record high, while online violence – particularly against women journalists – and harassment spurs on self-censorship and, in some cases, physical attacks.
Generally, we see journalists killed for covering corruption, corruption, particularly in local politics. Local journalists are incredibly vulnerable. They often don’t have the protections afforded to them by working for a big national media outlet. Covering protests can be fatal. I can rightly say that the intention here is to get journalists get killed for covering corruption stories, particularly involving top and powerful or influential politicians.
Working as a journalist is very risky. Additionally, journalists face an increasingly hostile digital environment, often tolerating intimidation, threats of physical and sexual harm and abuse, and ‘doxing’ – having their private information published online. These dangers disproportionately fall on female journalists and journalists of colour. The unfortunate story of Gregory Gondwe is purely intimidation coming from government side by government.

Journalists around the world are increasingly being targeted or killed for their work. But journalism is not a crime.
International Media Support (IMS) defends the rights of journalists and works to ensure that they can operate safely in countries where journalists are harassed or attacked for doing their job or where conflict increases thei dangers of covering stories. As part of IMS work to support the building of national safety mechanisms for journalists with buy-in from local, national and international partners when possible, the approach to safety for journalists combines specialist safety training with practical safety measures and advocacy for safer media working environments.
The IMS safety package includes: Training in: Risk analysis and threat mitigating, first aid, secure communications, conflict sensitive journalism, media laws and code of conduct etc.
Advocacy: Monitoring of attacks and threat levels, coordination of international support, development of guides and handbooks, engagement of governments in the protection of journalists through better laws and understanding of the role of journalists, facilitating dialogues between security forces and media to further mutual understanding etc. Our work is aligned with the UN Plan of Action on the Safety of Journalists and Issue of Impunity, a worldwide framework aiming to create a free and safe environment for journalists and media workers, both in conflict and non-conflict situations.

In conclusion, journalists should be protected. Without the work of independent journalists providing us with reliable information, who would report on issues of public interest, denounce wrongdoings, social inequalities and unpunished crimes? Protecting journalists and independent journalism is not only a concern for journalists. It’s a concern for all.
President and Commander in Chief of Muvi wa Chilungamo Revolutionary Party [MRP) Bantu Saunders Jumah, says enactment of age limit bill for a presidential candidate started in 1994 to bar Malawi’s founding father Ngwazi Dr. Hastings Kamuzu Banda from standing who by then, was 90 years.
Jumah said Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika is walking in the footsteps of Kamuzu Banda as Parliamentarians are strategizing to block him from standing in the 2025 elections speaking for itself that some laws were formulated deliberately targeting individuals.

H said as the case with Professor Mutharika, many Malawians were scared of Kamuzu Banda, they thought no one could defeat him hence limiting the presidential age to 70 years and this made Kamuzu not qualifying.
Speaking through his face book page followed by millions of people in Malawi and Africans on the continent, Jumah said the MCP hit back at those against Kamuzu from standing by tabling that Bakili Muluzi need not to stand basing on his criminal record he committed in the 1970s.
Discussions between the National Executive Committee and National Consultative Council (NCC) resolved that all laws be thrown out to allow both Kamuzu Banda and Bakili Muluzi stand in the 1994s first multi-party elections.
“The power to choose rests in the hands of the voters, let him stand, the choice is with the people and not hiding through age limit,” said Jumah.
On the September, 2025 elections, Jumah said it is sad that Members of Parliament (MPs) have given themselves power to shift the elections date from 21st May, 2024 to 16th September, 2025 to suit their own interests other than those of the citizens and the country.
Jumah said sadly President Chakwera and his Vice President Dr. Saulosi Chilima agreed to change the law by extending their term of office by one year to six years forgetting and ignoring the constitutional order that elections must be held every after five years describing this as conflict of interest.
He said countries such as South Africa, Botswana and Namibia are going to the elections this year questioning Why Malawi’s elections in September, 2024 calling on all patriotic Malawians to wake up and open their eyes to defend their Republican Constitution.
A new Delightful Deliveries shop that sells gift items has been opened in Blantyre.
The new shop is in Mall of Africa building room number 18B at Ginnery Corner in the commercial city.
Speaking during the grand opening ceremony on Friday, the shop owner Gloria Kamwendo said they had a lot of customers in Blantyre who needed the gift items that they sell hence the decision to open a new shop.
“We noticed that there was an increase in number of customers here Blantyre who needed the gift items that we sell. At first, we only had one shop in Lilongwe and we believe that with this new shop here many will enjoy our items.
“The another reason why we have opened this shop here is to cut costs our customers spent when traveling to Lilongwe just to get our items. Even to send them the items from Lilongwe was costly.
“We hope with this new shop that will now be the story of the past,” said Kamwendo.
She encouraged Blantyre residents who want to buy gifts for birthdays, engagements, weddings, funerals and many others to come to Delightful Deliveries.
“At Delightful Deliveries, we sell gift items. In short, our shop is a gift shop. Come at Delightful Deliveries and buy several gifts for your friends, families. We sell high quality gift items used in different events and functions,” she said.
On her part,one of customers from Chilima Township Madonna Nyirenda expressed excitement over the opening of new Delightful Deliveries shop in Blantyre.
“We are very happy to now have Delightful Deliveries shop here in Blantyre. They sell original and high quality products.
“At first, it was costly for us to buy their items from Lilongwe but now that the shop is here, we are very happy,” said Nyirenda.
