Clarification on Dr. Mwale’s denial of allegation and its implications

0

By Burnett Munthali

We engaged Dr. Clement Mwale, Secretary General of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), to clarify several issues raised by our recent article titled “DPP’s Leadership Crisis, Dilemma: The Perils of Imposing Candidates on Electorates.”

Firstly, Dr. Mwale has reportedly denied the allegations made in our article, which included a video clip where he was quoted stating that no shadow MPs should contest in constituencies where DPP members are currently serving. Our questionnaire aimed to seek his clarification on his stance regarding this matter.

Secondly, the article in question was based on statements attributed to Dr. Mwale at a public rally. He refuted these statements, and we sought to understand where our reporter might have misquoted him. Dr. Mwale was asked to provide accurate details of what was actually said to ensure an accurate representation of his position.

Thirdly, we provided Dr. Mwale with an opportunity to offer his final thoughts on the matter, including any additional comments or context he wished to share regarding the interview and the previously published article.

Unfortunately, Dr. Mwale did not respond to our questionnaire before we went to press. In light of this, it is worth noting that Jones Gadama, the author of the original story, stands by his account. Gadama wrote, “In a shocking display of disregard for democratic principles, Secretary General of the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), Dr. Clement Mwale, recently declared that the party will not allow shadow Members of Parliament (MPs) to challenge incumbent members of parliament in all constituencies.”

This statement has sparked significant controversy, with many criticizing it as a dangerous attempt to impose candidates and undermine democratic principles within the party. Critics argue that such a move could erode trust among DPP supporters and the broader electorate by suppressing internal democracy and stifling competition.

The implications of Dr. Mwale’s stance are considerable. By potentially restricting democratic competition, the DPP risks alienating its base and weakening its standing in the political arena. This approach, if true, could have far-reaching consequences for the party’s credibility and effectiveness.

By Vincent Gunde

President and Commander in Chief of Muvi wa Chilungamo Revolutionary Party (MRP) Bantu Saunders Jumah, has vowed to turn around the country’s governance system and economy by among others, trimming presidential powers so that all in Malawi use public schools and hospitals.

Jumah has observed that Malawi has for 60 years been using taxpayers money from the poor to fund presidents, Ministers, Members of Parliament and senior government officials for honeymoon trips to overseas countries which in the end has made Malawi poor and crowned paramount chief of the 46 poorest countries on the Earth’s planet.

Bantu Saunders Jumah

He said recycled politicians have been moving from one mountain to another as hyenas stealing the peoples’ money preaching to the outside world that Malawi is poor while them are billionaires over a night masquerading themselves as servant leaders.

In a Revolutionary voice broadcast to millions of Malawians and Africans on the continent in various media outlets, Jumah said Malawi need young people with fresh ideas to bring the country to a new environment that all Malawians must feel that they are in government.

Jumah said time for the president, ministers and senior government officials to be angels with the peoples’ money are over saying the 7th Republic coming in 2025 under Muvi wa Chilungamo will lead the nation that its president and children to go to public hospitals when they fall sick and their children to go to public schools.

He said for 60 years, the country has been relying for over-borrowing money from international organizations for consumption claiming that Malawi has God-given abundant resources promises to use the available resources to develop the country not loans which for 60 years have chained Malawians.

The MRP President said the Revolutionary government will make sure that whatever the President, ministers and senior government officials are receiving in public service must be given back to the public through visiting public hospitals and Dispensaries when they fall sick and not flying outside the country for treatment funded by taxpayers’ money.

“The 7th Republic government will make sure that leaders must serve the people and not people worshipping politicians as next to God.” Said Jumah.

He has appealed to recycled politicians to start preparing for their exit in government and ministers to get prepared too for their allowances trimmed so that the money saved be used as an entry point for the country to be repaying national debts which have reached K13.56 trillion.

Jumah said the luxurious vehicles which the president, ministers and senior government officials are being used today will all be sold saying the 7th President coming in 2025 will be using Land Rovers and Toyota Corolla to suit the Malawi roads which are full of potholes.

He has finally encouraged Malawians to patronize all political party rallies for their informed choice so that they vote for revolutionary leaders in 2025 to bring the country to factory setting to start a fresh with new leaders of mindset change.

By Chisomo Phiri

The Malawi Human Rights Commission (MHRC) has revealed that the death of a seven old weeks baby in Mzimba in June last year was caused by detention at the Mtambalika Roadblock for over 15 minutes.

MHRC investigated the death after the Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) lodged a complaint on the matter.

Presenting the investigation findings in Lilongwe on Tuesday, MHRC commissioner Boniface Massa said:“The police stopped the vehicle because the driver was operating the vehicle without a valid road service permit.

“It is established that the police detained the vehicle for about 10 to 25 minutes despite the driver of the vehicle informing the police that he was rushing to the hospital with the child who was not feeling well.”

The baby died upon arrival at the hospital.

The commission has however, advised  the family of the deceased to consider commencing legal action against the police and the taxi driver for the loss of life.
