The Football Association of Malawi ( FAM) has pumped K30 million in central and northern region Division One Football leagues for 2024 season with  the two regions sharing K15 Million sponsorship each.

The two have been the remaining regions without securing any sponsorship in Division  One Football Leagues.

Speaking during the league launch at Ntchisi Community ground, FAM President Fleetwood Haiya said it is the association’s  wish to take football to greater height.

He said: “We cannot talk about football if we can’t  start from grassroots and this is what we have been talking about in our strategic plan.”

Haiya pointed out that  competitive football  is vital in promoting the standards of the sport in the country.

“There are high chances that the competition will be stiff and where there is stiff competition, it is our belief that we will have quality players and this will translate into having quality national team.”

Central Region Football Association General Secretary, Antonio Manda said the sponsorship will help lay a good foundation in the football development in the region.

“We are very much excited  with the sponsorship as a region. We have been on the hunt for sponsorship for quite some time,” he said.

Manda added: “FAM has led the foundation. It is now upon us to search for sponsors. We should  be able to get sponsors with huge sums of money so that out teams should be able to enjoy the game of football.”

On his part, Northern Region Football Association General Secretary, Masiya Nyasulu applauded FAM for the sponsorship describing it as a bonus to them.

“We are so much excited to the extent that our teams have now something to smile about, ” he said.

He said NRFA will take up a challenge to hunt for more sponsors to help support the league saying FAM has alot of activities and as such it could not be taken as the league’s  sponsor for seasons to come.

The launch was attended by all the nine District Football Associations from Central Region, Northern Region football association members, district council officials and some parliamentarians from Ntchisi district among others.

President and Commander in Chief of Muvi wa Chilungamo Revolutionary Party (MRP) Bantu Saunders Jumah, has joined calls to the Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) not to charge Malawians for its stickers on goods coming into the country.

Jumah has advised government to borrow a leaf from Kenya where citizens are protesting in the streets for a Finance bill which has not been signed into law observing that if care is not taken, what has happened in Kenya will soon come to Malawi.

He said this is the time to reflect on the country’s independence whether it has registered impact or not claiming that Malawi has enjoyed peace for 60 years beside it being under-developed, the country still remains as in the federation and above all, a failed state

Bantu Saunders Jumah

Speaking through a Revolutionary voice in various media platforms in Malawi and Africans on the continent, Jumah said Malawi requires self-introspection that at 60 years, it has registered more of the bad than good.

Jumah said as from 1964, the country has not had a common ground to develop the country beside being ruled by five presidents and four political parties claiming that successful times have been shuttered into sorrow stories.

He said President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera appealed for tolerance between the police and citizens on the Independence Day celebrations in Lilongwe wondering if what he spoke is real saying none of his words has never happened.

The MRP President has reminded Malawians that President Chakwera spoke of ending allowance syndrome in government, police lining in the streets where he is going, Ministers following him where he is going and his appeals for unity, that none of these have happened.

He said the 6th July, Independence celebrations were supposed to be of collective responsibility claiming that opposition parties were not invited, there was no AFORD, DPP, MRP and the only parties that came were those that are in MCP Alliance.

“An Independence Day is supposed to be a day of national colours but there were MCP colours and you expect the opposition to attend a function of the MCP, “said Jumah.

He has advised religious leaders and organizations to side with the suffering Malawians by reminding President Chakwera that his government has done more of the bad to the citizens for corrections and not blaming the citizens for no patriotism to their country.

Jumah said presidential convoy of over 50 cars, arresting people without proper reasons, corruption has become worse in the MCP led government, nepotism where the president is only seen appointing people from one tribe only in Malawi-the Chewa saying these must be said to the president if he is patriotic to the country.

Social commentator Isaiah Emmanuel Sunganimoyo has pleaded with MCP delegates to the party’s elective conference to be held in August, 2024 to elect Mrs. Abida Sidik Mia for the position of second Vice President of the MCP.

Sunganimoyo has claimed that Abida Mia has the love of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) observing that her love dated back at the time she was with her husband, the late Mohammad Sidik Mia when the two became friends in need of the MCP.

Abida Mia

He said Abida and her husband Sidik Mia rescued the MCP from collapsing when they used all of their resources to support the party and rebuilding it in the southern and eastern regions saying without them, MCP could not have penetrated in the two political regions.

Speaking through a video clip circulating in various social media platforms, Sunganimoyo has claimed that there was no MCP in the southern region saying other people worked day and night to scrap off the MCP in the south, but with the Mia family, there the MCP has survived.

Sunganimoyo said he is fully aware that some people in the MCP are not happy with Abida Mia’s candidature as second vice president of the MCP advising MCP Convention delegates to elect people who have the welfare of MCP members at heart one, being Abida Mia.

He has observed that there are others who are vying for the position of second Vice President of the MCP advising the delegates to scrutinize each candidate before making their informed choice saying no one can compete with Abida Mia.

The social commentator said even President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera as a way of thanking the Mia family for the support they rendered to the party, he appointed the two into his cabinet heading different government portfolios.

“Abida Mia love everyone, she is a listening woman, if I was one of the voters, I would have gone for her name,” said Sunganimoyo.

He has expressed hope and trust that Convention delegates will choose the party to be dead in southern region or for it to live saying only one name, Abida Mia will revamp the MCP in the southern region and the rest to escort the MCP to an early grave in thye southern region.
