By Vincent Gunde

President of Chilungamo Party Comrade Alhaji Imraan Jumbe, says the plane crash that claimed the life of Vice President Dr. Saulosi Chilima is a national tragedy that demands a rigorous and transparent investigations by establishing three separate investigative bodies.

Alhaji Jumbe says Government’s commitment to funding these investigations is a crucial step in the upholding the principles of justice and transparency observing that providing the necessary resources to uncover the truth, will ensure that such a tragedy never occurs again in the country.

Comrade Alhaji Imraan Jumbe,

He has expressed fears that by relying solely on Government-led investigation, there will be potential political biases or conflicts of interest and establishing three separate investigation bodies will ensure that a more balanced and impartial approach will be there to uncover the truth.

Writing on his official Facebook page, Alhaji Jumbe says when Malawians see multiple independent investigations bodies taking place, their confidence in the process will increase unlike one established by the government alone.

Alhaji Jumbe says three separate investigative bodies should be established to provide comprehensive insights and prevent potential biases saying this will ensure that Malawians have full confidence in the findings.

He has proposed for an independent investigation fully funded and championed by the Government saying this body should include international aviation experts, legal professionals and representatives from the Civil society saying this initiative remains free from any political influence or interference.

The President says the family of the late Vice President Dr. Chilima should have the right to appoint their own independent investigative team from abroad to bring an unbiased, external perspective to the investigation and ensuring that no stone is left unturned.

He says the UTM -the party led by Dr. Chilima should establish its own investigative team to be comprised of experts chosen by the party and this must be funded by Government to support the initiative of transparent investigations.

“Each investigative body will bring its own unique expertise and viewpoint, ensuring that all potential factors contributing to the plane crash are thoroughly examined,” reads Alhaji Jumbe’s writings on the wall.

Understanding God in circumstances like Chilima Plane Crash

By Twink Jones Gadama

The recent tragic plane crash that claimed the life of Saulos Klaus Chilima, the leader of the United Transformation Movement (UTM), has left many wondering if God cares about humanity’s suffering.

The question “Where was God when Chilima’s plane crashed?” has been on many lips, with some doubting God’s existence or His concern for human affairs.

However, this tragedy presents an opportunity to reflect on God’s nature and His relationship with humanity.

Devouted Christian Chilima

The Bible teaches that God is all-powerful, all-knowing, and all-loving (Psalm 139:1-4, Isaiah 46:9-10).

He is sovereign over all creation, including the events that unfold on earth (Psalm 135:6).

So, where was God when Chilima’s plane crashed?

The answer lies in understanding God’s role in human affairs.

God is not a distant observer but an actively involved Creator who cares deeply about His creation (Psalm 138:8).

He is not the author of evil or tragedy but can use such events to accomplish His purposes (Romans 8:28).

The Bible records numerous instances where God intervened in human affairs, often in response to prayer or faith (2 Chronicles 7:14, Matthew 21:22).

However, God’s sovereignty also means that He allows human freedom and the consequences of sin, which can lead to tragic events like the plane crash.

This paradox is difficult to comprehend, but it’s essential to remember that God’s ways are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9).

We may not always understand His reasons, but we can trust in His goodness and love.

In times of tragedy, we can find comfort in God’s presence and promises.

The Bible assures us that God is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18).

He offers comfort and peace that surpass human understanding (Philippians 4:7).

As we mourn the loss of Chilima and others who have passed on, let us remember that God cares deeply about our pain and suffering. He invites us to cast our cares upon Him, for He cares for us (1 Peter 5:7).

In conclusion, God’s care and concern for humanity are not measured by our limited understanding of events.

His sovereignty and love are not diminished by tragedy, but rather, they offer hope and comfort in the midst of sorrow.

As we reflect on the life of Chilima and the tragedy that befell him,
let us find solace in God’s promises and presence.

He is our rock, our refuge, and our savior.

The Alliance for Democracy (Aford) has vehemently called for the immediate and unconditional release of activist Bon Kalindo and Parliamentarian Kamlepo Kalua, who were arrested by police for allegedly spreading false information through audio messages on social media.

Aford’s spokesperson, Anne Amatullah Maluwa, confirmed the party’s stance, stating that the arrest of the duo is a clear violation of their rights and a politically motivated move.

Kalindo

Maluwa emphasized that the arrest is a blatant attempt to silence critical voices and stifle freedom of expression in Malawi.

“The arrest of Bon Kalindo and Kamlepo Kalua is a gross violation of their rights and a clear indication of the government’s intentions to suppress dissenting voices,” Maluwa said in a statement. “We demand their unconditional release and urge all Malawians to stand up for their rights and freedoms.”

Maluwa further alleged that the government is using the police to persecute political opponents and critics, adding that Aford will not stand idly by while the rights of citizens are being trampled upon.

The police arrested Kalindo and Kalua on charges of spreading false information, which is punishable under Malawi’s cybercrime laws.

However, Aford and other human rights groups have dismissed the charges as baseless and politically motivated.

Kalindo, a renowned activist, has been a vocal critic of the government’s handling of the economy and corruption, while Kalua has been a fierce advocate for human rights and the rule of law.

Their arrest has sparked widespread outrage and condemnation from civil society organizations, opposition parties, and human rights groups.

Aford’s call for the release of Kalindo and Kalua has been echoed by other opposition parties and human rights groups, who have urged the government to respect the rights of citizens and stop using the police to silence critical voices.

As the debate rages on, Malawians are increasingly becoming concerned about the erosion of their rights and freedoms under the current administration.

The arrest of Kalindo and Kalua has only added fuel to the fire, with many calling for the government to take steps to address the deteriorating human rights situation in the country.

The arrest of Bon Kalindo and Kamlepo Kalua has sparked a national debate on the state of human rights in Malawi. Aford’s call for their release and condemnation of the government’s actions is a clear indication that the party will not stand idly by while the rights of citizens are being violated.

As the situation unfolds, Malawians are eagerly waiting to see how the government will respond to the growing demands for respect for human rights and freedoms.
