Former President Peter Mutharika says he will end challenges Malawians are currently facing under the Tonse Alliance administration after re-elected into power in the 2025 presidential elections.
He was speaking at this year’s Mulhako wa Alhomwe cultural celebrations at Chonde Headquarters in Mulanje on Sunday.
Mutharika observed that since his Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) was booted out of government in June 2020 following the court sanctioned fresh presidential elections, prices of goods and services have been on the rise.
Mutharika
He said the challenges Malawians are facing are a result of bad choice of leadership.
“Amalawi kusamva. During the last general election I repeatedly reminded you that you had a chance to vote for development or challenges,”said Mutharika.
The former Malawi leader accused Tonse Alliance government of attempting to economically sanction the Southern region by relocating to Lilongwe, headquarters of major statutory bodies and government companies.
“They have started moving important government offices to Lilongwe. They want to kill Southern Region in this way,” he said.
He then, declared he will bounce back as Malawi leader in 2025.
Leader of Mass Movement for Economic Revolution (MMER) who is also Secretary General for Malawi First Pressure Group Redson Munlo says Malawians are not ready to have President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera during the 2025 general elections as their President.
In an interview with 247 Malawi News, Munlo said President Chakwera has proved to Malawians that he has no welfare of the citizens at heart when he led his delegation to attend the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York-United States of America (USA).
Redson Munlo
He said President Chakwera left the country at the time that fuel stations were completely dry with no fuel and no forex and making matters worse, people queuing for petrol and sleeping in service stations for days.
Munlo observed that the country has stopped productions, people are not going for their work and instead, they are going around searching for fuel in service stations.
Munlo said Malawi has a careless President who does not care about the country and its citizens since the dawn of multiparty democracy in 1994 saying it is not surprising that he knows himself that he is President while Malawians have no trust in him.
He accused Secretary General of the MCP for speaking useless speech at the burial ceremony of the departed John Zenasi Ungapake Tembo that Tembo should tell the late Ngwazi Dr. Hastings Kamuzu Banda wherever he is that his chosen one, Dr. Lazarus Chakwera is delivering to the nation.
The Activist questioned Eisenhower Mkaka to tell Malawians what is it exactly that Chakwera has delivered in his 3 years of staying in government saying Mkaka’s speech was a clear demonstration that Malawi is being run by useless people who do not know why they are in government.
“President Chakwera’s motorcade was booed along the streets to Lilongwe case in point, useless speech by Mkaka,” said Munlo.
Munlo therefore, invited Malawians who love their country to patronize protests by the Human Rights Ambassadors (HRAs) slated for October 12, 2023 from Waka-Waka to Capital Hill and on October 25, 2023 by the Malawi First Pressure Group from Lilongwe Community Centre ground to State House in Lilongwe to present a petition to President Chakwera that Enough is Enough, he should resign for failing Malawians.
He further reminded the authorities that the more they stone them with the police behind them, the more they will start harder assuring them that “No surrender and No, retreat” until the time their petition is delivered at the State House.
Atoht Manje, your song “Zilibwino” echoed with the words “Awuzeni Zilibwino,” but today, the world feels far from well. Your untimely departure is a surreal nightmare, and we struggle to come to terms with the reality of your absence.
Just a mere ten days ago, you graced us with “Nchape,” a song that delved into the depths of human nature, exposing the poison of gossip and jealousy.
The late Manje
In your unique style, you implored the haters to partake in a concoction called Nchape, hoping it would cleanse them of their malicious tendencies.
This song struck a chord because it addressed a pervasive issue, a world where people wear masks of support but secretly plot our downfall.
You were not just an artist, you were a chameleon of music, effortlessly switching between genres and excelling beyond our expectations.
Your live performances were nothing short of captivating, luring even the most stoic of individuals to the dance floor.
I, too, succumbed to the enchanting power of your music and found myself dancing with abandon, pen and notepad in hand, as I interpreted the rhythms through my very being.
I recall that memorable night at Chigwiri Culture Club, where your vibrant performance shared the stage with the talents of Saint-Realest and Sam C Simakweli.
Another unforgettable moment was at Mtimamalo Bar in Nathenje, where your sizzling Huwa live act nearly transformed me into a karate master, executing swift kicks and fancy footwork while I grooved to the beats.
Your song “Tizipepese” reminded us of the importance of embracing moments of happiness, especially in the face of life’s trials. However, the fuel scarcity that plagues our lives today adds an ironic twist to the song’s message, as attending gigs becomes an uphill battle.
In “Tizipepese,” you humorously lamented that none of the beautiful tombstones in the graveyard belonged to your relatives.
Today, as we bid you farewell, we wonder if you have finally found a resting place adorned with a beautiful tombstone. Only the divine knows our destinies, and we trust that you have found peace.
Your songs were not mere melodies; they were profound expressions of religious themes and societal realities. They will continue to resonate with us, inspire us, and shape our lives. Atoht Manje, your music will endure, and your spirit will live on.
As we mourn your passing, we also celebrate your life—a life dedicated to sharing your unique voice with the world. You may have left this earthly stage, but your legacy will forever shine brightly in our hearts.
Rest in power, Atoht Manje, and may your soul find eternal serenity.
Written with love and respect, Your music will live on.
