Jumah sells his political journey as a Revolutionary on his birthday

Since 2016 Bantu Saunders Jumah’s name has been hitting various radio stations and social media platforms through his audio and video clips advocating for the country’s change in governance and human rights for all Malawians to feel that they are part of the government of the day.

Some other people have seen this great man and orator face to face and others see him through his video clips, but, they fail to know him that who is this great man Bantu Saunders Jumah and what made him to be a Revolutionary and become a Revolutionary leader of Muvi wa Chilungamo Revolutionary Party (MRP)?

28th December, was his official birthday and his birthday message did go to the people of Africa particularly – Malawi where most of the people have of late come to know him that he is one of the courageous sons of Malawi.

Born between 28th December, 1964 to 1966 at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Malawi, Bantu Saunders Jumah was born from the poorest and vulnerable parents, grew up by the grace of God, a year after birth, parents divorced and was left under custody of the mother as per tradition.

At the age of 18, Jumah went into exile in Tanzania to fight against dictatorship of Kamuzu Banda and his archaic rule of forcing citizens to fund his political party- MCP and any development he made in the country personal or public, he joined liberation movements of LESOMA, MAFREMO and MADU in Tanzania and Mozambique.

Jumah became Commissars’ that secretly transported written materials that by then, were regarded as seditious and treasonous into Malawi, efforts were intensified to notify the international community particularly “Paris Club” to withhold aid and budgetary support into Malawi until Malawi was open for multiparty democracy.

The Paris Club responded positively and so was the Vatican, pressure mounted from within and outside in exile, Kamuzu Banda had no chance but to accept the ‘will of the people’ that on the 14th June, 1993 Referendum Day- ” the country chose freedom and democracy and democracy was born.

The same year, political parties were legalized that saw the birth UFMD in Zambia which brought together all liberation movements in exile led by Orton Edgar Ching’oli Chirwa in Prison, Harry Bwanausi, William Kanyama Chiume and Attati Mpakati in exile.

The United Front for Multiparty Democracy (UFMD) appointed Jumah as its Coordinator responsible for sensitization and Awareness campaigns to citizens of Malawi in Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana, and South Africa, Frederick Ebert Foundation of Germany in Zimbabwe helped and funded the initiative.

‘When Referendum was won and multiparty democracy born, an Amnesty was granted to all exiled leaders that were known as Dissidents to return home,” the beginning of the new chapter in Malawi.

Speaking on his auspicious birthday on 28th December Bantu Saunders Jumah has thanked his family for believing in him, taking care of him, his area Blantyre Rural West for working with him in the struggles and all Africans with the same dream.
Jumah has finally advised patriotic Malawians wanting their country to change from abstract poverty to prosperity that they will never achieve anything if they don’t envision it saying thoughts are things wishing Happy birthday to himself.

Spanner Malawi Unbothered by Local Awards, Proud to Fly Malawi’s Flag Globally

Spanner Malawi, a renowned competitive eating expert known for consuming large quantities of food within minutes, has dismissed concerns about not receiving local awards in Malawi, saying his focus is on global impact rather than recognition at home.

Speaking confidently, Spanner Malawi said he has no complaints about awards being presented in the country, stressing that his journey has already earned international recognition beyond Malawi’s borders.

He revealed that his biggest personal award was achieved in Nigeria, where his unique talent was acknowledged, marking a major milestone in his career and putting Malawi on the international competitive eating map.

Spanner Malawi emphasized that his mission has always been to take Malawi to the world, proudly chanting “Malawi to the world,” as he continues to represent the country on global platforms.

Reflecting on his journey, he described history as the best teacher, noting that achievements are not always immediately appreciated at home but often gain value with time.

He believes he is the first Malawian in history to introduce and popularize competitive eating as a recognized talent, opening doors for a new and unconventional sporting discipline in the country.

According to Spanner Malawi, the absence of local awards does not discourage him, as his main goal is to see Malawi gain worldwide recognition through his extraordinary ability.

He added that appreciation and acknowledgment are important, but they should never overshadow the bigger picture of national pride and global visibility.

Spanner Malawi said he remains committed to inspiring young Malawians to believe in unique talents, even those that may seem unusual or overlooked.

He concluded by stating that as long as Malawi’s name continues to trend worldwide because of his talent, he considers himself a winner, regardless of where or how awards are given.

Mighty Wanderers Secure Dan Kudonto with New Two Year Deal

Mighty Wanderers have rewarded midfielder Dan Kudonto with a new two-year contract, securing his future at the club.

The Nomads announced the development through an official statement shared on their Facebook page, confirming that the midfielder will remain with the team for the next two seasons.


Kudonto is a product of the Mighty Wanderers Reserve side and has steadily risen through the ranks to become an important member of the senior team.

The midfielder was among the young players who played a crucial role in Wanderers’ successful TNM Super League campaign this season.

His contribution in midfield helped the club clinch the TNM Super League title, with Kudonto showing consistency, composure, and determination throughout the campaign.

Chimwendo Banda Returns to Prison After Hospital Discharge

MCP Secretary General Richard Chimwendo Banda has been taken back to Maula Prison following his discharge from hospital on Monday afternoon, continuing a period marked by legal uncertainty and health concerns.

His lawyer, George Jivason Kadzipatike, confirmed that Chimwendo Banda was released from medical care after doctors assessed his condition and deemed him fit for discharge.

Kadzipatike, however, clarified that his client has not fully recovered, adding that doctors have recommended he returns for further medical treatment within the next day.

The MCP Secretary General has spent the past two weeks receiving treatment after falling ill while in police custody, a development that attracted public and political attention.

Medical personnel reportedly monitored his condition closely before allowing his discharge, stressing the need for continued follow-up care.

Immediately after leaving the hospital, Chimwendo Banda was transferred back to Maula Prison, where he remains in custody.

He is still awaiting a ruling on his bail application, which was heard earlier before High Court Judge Mzonde Mvula.

The judge indicated that the court would communicate its decision on the bail request at an unspecified date.

This uncertainty has left Chimwendo Banda’s legal team and party officials anxiously awaiting the next step in the case.

As events unfold, focus remains on the court’s pending decision and the health of the MCP Secretary General while he remains behind bars.

Goshen City Makes Bold Investment in Miss Malawi Platform

Goshen City has made a strong statement of support for beauty with purpose by awarding newly crowned Miss Malawi, Thandi Chisi, a total of K62 million in sponsorship.

The financial boost was officially presented through the Miss Malawi Beauty Pageant, marking one of the most significant rewards attached to the national crown in recent years.

Out of the total amount, Chisi herself will receive K50 million, while the remaining K12 million will be shared among the runners up, ensuring that the wider pageant team also benefits.

The gesture goes beyond celebration, reflecting a growing commitment to empowering young women through platforms that promote leadership, confidence, and social impact.

Goshen City founder Prophet Shepherd Bushiri reaffirmed his organisation’s dedication to partnering with Miss Malawi in initiatives aimed at uplifting communities.

Bushiri said Goshen City views the Miss Malawi Pageant as a strategic partner in shaping role models who can positively influence society, particularly young women across the country.

He added that the sponsorship is part of a broader vision to support talent, discipline and national representation on both local and international stages.

On her part, an elated Thandi Chisi described the support as timely and life-changing, noting that it strengthens her ability to focus on her responsibilities as Miss Malawi.

Chisi said the funds will help improve the welfare of the titleholders and enable them to actively engage in planned outreach and advocacy programmes.

“This means a lot to me and I’m grateful for the support,” Chisi describing the sponsorship as a vote of confidence in her leadership.

She further noted that financial stability allows the Miss Malawi team to work more effectively without the burden of constant resource constraints.
