He says the spirit of wanting to see people that seem too be doing well fall is not welcome in Malawi and that a mindset change is need so that as a nation we should embrace and celebrate those that re doing good

Secretary to the President and Cabinet (SPC), Colleen Zamba, says there are still issues in procurement and financial management in the civil service that needs to be addressed.

Zamba said this on Friday at Malawi Institute of Management (MIM) where she held a meeting with Principal Secretaries in Ministries, Departments and Agencies under her vision of restoring the dignity of the civil service in terms of performance and efficiency.

Secretary to the President and Cabinet (SPC), Colleen Zamba

“One of the objectives as charged by the President is the optimal use of resources, both financial and human. I have already discussed with the Director General of Public Procurement to have a session with the PSs where they should be taken through their responsibilities, because as controlling officers they are answerable even to the Public Accounts Committee on the way resources are used,” she said.

Zamba expressed hope that frequent interaction with the PSs will help effective implementation of the national development agenda saying the civil service is the centre nerve in the implementation of the national development agenda.

Chilima not sponsoring demos- Patricia Kaliati

The Secretary General of United Transformation Movement (UTM), Patricia Kaliati has rubbished reports making rounds that Vice President Saulos Chilima is the architect of the demonstrations in the country.

Kaliati was speaking in Ntcheu on Saturday when she graced the launch of a football trophy in the area. She said that claims that Chilima is sponsoring demonstrations are baseless and work of propaganda aimed at tarnishing the party leader’s image.

Kaliati, who is also Minister of Gender, argues those fabricating such stories are enemies of progress with intent to distract the good relationship between President Lazarus Chakwera and Chilima.

She made the remarks today in Ntcheu during the launch of a football trophy which will be sponsored by UTM Member of Parliament for Ntcheu West, Simeon Salambula

Since President Chakwera stopped delegating duties to his Vice Chilima due to his involvement in the Zuneth Sattar Corruption scandal, Chilima came with a response where he requested the immunity of the President to be removed. Since then ,there has been a wave of demonstrations against Chakwera government asking for the President immunity to be removed , a situation that has led to some eagle eyed critics to work out that Chilima might be involved behind the scenes
