Musician Atoht Manje famous for his hit song ‘Che-Patuma’ has died.
Reports indicate that Atoht Manje, real name Elias Missi collapsed last night at University Livingstonia in Rumphi soon after his performance along fellow musicians.
Currently the body of the self styled musician is being kept at Mzuzu Central hospital waiting for his relatives to come and collect it.

Atoht Manje’s death comes just a week after releasing visuals to his brand new song ‘Nchape’ which is currently enjoying airplay in different media houses and different places across the country.
Apart from Che-Patuma and Nchape, other famous hits by Atoht Manje include Majelasi, Unanditani, Munthu, Tizipepezeko, Huwa, Woyo-woyo, Ndalama and Mwana Phuliphuli.

In exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 92(1) as read with section 94(1) of the Constitution of the Republic of Malawi, President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has on Saturday appointed Simplex Chithyola Banda as Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs.
Chithyola-Banda replaces former Finance Minister, Sosten Alfred Gwengwe,who has now been appointed Minister of Trade and Industry.
According to a statement signed by Colleen Zamba, Secretary to the President and Cabinet, the appointments are with immediate effect.

Accepting the shift, Gwengwe said he will work with the current Minister.
“My comment would be Its one government and we will always work together,” he said.
In an interview with Nation Online, the Office of President and Cabinet (OPC) stated that the changes are for the benefit of the country.
He said : “Nothing has necessitated changes in the cabinet. As you know the president has powers conferred upon him in the constitution of Malawi.
” It is not a new thing to see this happening, its just a matter of putting things in the right direction for the benefit of the country.
“So indeed the Malawi leader Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has made Hon.Simplex Chithyola Banda, Minister of Finance and Hon Sosten Gwengwe Minister of Trade.
Until his appointment, Chithyola-Banda was serving as Minister of Trade and Industry.
Malawi national women’s football team ‘Scorchers’ have won their second game at the on-going HollywoodBets Cosafa Women’s Championship, beating eSwathin 8-0 at Dobsonville Stadium in South Africa on Saturday afternoon.
Sabina Thom opened the scoring for Malawi with a simple header just 6 minutes from kick-off to give the Scorchers a deserving lead.
Thom completed her brace in the 33rd minute after a good exchange of passes with Temwa Chawinga.
Scorchers got their third goal some seconds before half time through Carolyn Mathyola who headed in a Madyina Ngulube’s corner-kick.
Rose Kabzere scored the fourth goal for Scorchers just seven minutes in the second half with a powerful shot on the edge of the box.
Temwa Chawinga registered her name on the scoresheet in the 52 minute before she scored her second goal 11 minutes later after receiving a good pass from Kabzere.
Chawinga completed her second hat-trick in the tournament in the 75th minute with a cool finish to end the match at 8-nil.
The win means that Scorchers are leading Group A with 6 points from 2 games and they have qualified to the sami-finals which will be played next Friday.
Scorchers will however play their last Group A match against Madagascar on Monday.
The team previously defeated the hosts Banyana Banyana 4-3 in an opening match played at Lucas Moripe stadium.
Themwa Chawinga, younger sister to PSG forward Tabitha Tabitha Chawinga, is the current leading scorer in the tournament having scored 7 goals so far.
President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera says regional economic integration cannot be achieved in the absence of regional cooperation and collaboration.
The Malawi leader said this on Saturday 7th October 2023 during the inauguration ceremony for the updated Nacala Port in Mozambique.
In his remarks, Chakwera explained that to enhance bilateral relations between the three countries that are to benefit from the port, Malawi, Zambia and Mozambique, there is also a need for collaboration and trust.

“When we speak of regional economic integration, we must understand that it cannot be done without regional cooperation and collaboration. And when we speak of regional collaboration, we must understand that it cannot be done without building trust between our nations to enhance our bilateral relations,” he added.
“Without building trust, the work of facilitating the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) will simply be too difficult to achieve, as will its intended objective of improving logistical effectiveness reducing logistical costs of conduct business between our nation.”
Chakwera hailed President Nyusi of Mozambique for his gesture of partnership and generosity towards Malawi.
“I would therefore like to congratulate Your Excellency President Nyusi and the Government of the Republic of Mozambique for this milestone and for this remarkable gesture of partnership and generosity towards Malawi. It is so rare in Africa to see a nation treat the prosperity of another nation as being inextricably linked to its own, and yet President Nyusi treats Malawi’s prosperity in this manner again and again,” said the Malawi leader.
“Just three weeks ago, His Excellency accepted my invitation to join me in co-hosting the Africa Business Summit on the sidelines of the 78th United Nations General Assembly, where he helped our two nations court investors from the African American community in partnership with the National Forum for Black Public Administrators. Nyassa Air Taxi and Luthando Holdings have joined other several companies including Puma energy, Malawi air force that are sponsoring Malawi’s first air show and aviation career day by Phantom Aviation scheduled for November 25,2023 at Lilongwe old Airport.
On Thursday, Nyassa Air Taxi unveiled a K9. 5 million sponsorship towards the event while Luthando Holdings pumped in K2 million.
Speaking in an interview with journalists after the sponsorship unveiling in Lilongwe, Nyassa Air Taxi who did not want his name to be mentioned said they chose to support the air show because it aligns with their field of work as well as giving them a platform to interact and inspire children to join the aviation industry.
He said they also hope that the event will help to bring awareness to Malawi’s aviation industry which is in its infancy but still exists regardless of negative impacts.
“There is a lot of work we can do and make sure that more players join the aviation field and we feel our contribution towards this is of a great,”he said.
On the other hand, Luthando Managing Director Handrix Laher said as the company they believe in the Phantom Aviation team and their dedication to organizing such a world-class air show hence the sponsorship.

She then hailed the two recent sponsors for their timely donations in the midst of most companies that were approached seemed to rather want to sponsor adult social events as opposed to a project that would broaden most of the nations children’s minds.
