The Association’s Vice President Patricia Chisi disclosed this on Thursday December, 29,2022 during a meeting the association held in Bangwe, Blantyre with school directors and officials from St John the Baptist DMI University as well as Domasi College of Education.

Chisi said upon signing a memorandum of understanding, private school teachers will have a chance to attain teaching Diplomas and Degrees from universities like DMI, thereby improving education standards in the country.

“They came to showcase their packages and as PRISAM we are very excited and ready to partner with the two institutions for the improvement of our teachers’ education qualifications, “said Chisi.

She then called on private schools to register with PRISAM in order to benefit such opportunities.

“There is a perception that most teachers in private schools do not have necessary qualifications, we want to change that narrative, “added Chisi

Senior lecturer at Domasi College of Education Dr Grecious Gadama said the school is ready to train teachers from private schools under PRISAM on skills and methodologies recommended by MANEB.

DMI University Principal George Michael commended the plans of the association saying they have a great potential in contributing towards the uplifting of education standards in Malawi.

” This is a very great initiative and we hope it will uplift the private tertiary education in the country, ” commended Michael.

PRISAM was originally started years back with late Morton Chipimpha Mughogho of Phwezi foundation school as one of the founders.

Its vision is to ensure that private schools have got good decent structures, and also facilitate the registration and accreditation of schools.

The grouping also ensures that teachers are offered good perks and an opportunity to further their studies.
