Prolonged power blackouts are expected for the next two weeks as EGENCO plans to carry out maintenance works on Tedzani 4 power plant.

According to a statement from the power producer, starting today, Tedzani 4 will be out of service for 15 days in order to pave the way for the work.

Due to this, the national grid will be short of 19.1 megawatts of power.

It is anticipated that the works will rectify all outstanding defects on the Power Plant since its commissioning in June 2021.

The statement adds that during this period EGENCO will also remove rock boulders from the tailrace channel and repair other damages that the plant incurred when tropical storm Ana hit earlier this year.

The statement further highlights that in order to mitigate the impact; EGENCO will operate all available diesel generators to supplement the available hydro capacity.
