Fredokiss arrest- Fiscal crimes behind the rapper’s ordeal

Musician and Politician Fredokiss-born-Penjani Kalua has been arrested by Police. While he hasn’t been charged yet, Fredokiss has been arrested by Fiscal Police for allegedly committing Financial crimes

Friend and rapper Kalawe posted on Saturday morning that he had been to see Fredokiss and that he remains in high spirits. In his defence he is claiming that he is being accused of crimes that were not committed by him



Of late, Fredokiss has been pushing for justice for the 19-year-old Mussa John; currently serving a three-year-jail term for being found in possession of Indian Hemp.

A few days ago, the artist hinted at marching to Sanjika Palace in Blantyre to present a petition to President Lazarus Chakwera over the same. More to come!

President Chakwera arrives in New York for UNGA

President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, has arrived in New York, United States of America, where among other engagements is expected to address the United Nations General Assembly on September 22, 2022.

President Chakwera was welcomed by Hon. Nancy Tembo, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda, Minister of Health, Dr. Agnes Chimbiri-Molande, Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations and other senior Government officials.



The President is attending UNGA in person for the first time since taking office following his decision to attend last year’s hybrid event virtually and the UN’s decision to do a virtual-only event in 2020.

This year’s UNGA, to be held under the theme “A WATERSHED MOMENT: Transformative Solutions to Interlocking Challenges” is the first in-person-only meeting of world leaders in the Covid-19 era.

ACB arrests 3 ward councillors in Karonga for duping vendors K2.4 million

The Anti-Corruption Bureau ( ACB) has today Tuesday September 13,2022 arrested three ward councillors in Karonga on allegations that they illegally and unprocedurally sold public land to the vendors at the boma.

In a 247 Malawi News has in possession, ACB Principal Public Relations Officer Egrita Ndala has confirmed the arrest of the trio saying the bureau received a complaint in 2020 alleging that the suspects pocketed K2.4 million kwacha from market vendors to allocate them spaces within the central business district.

The three are Steve Simsokwe, Smart Mwakaira and Ngasalayumo Mwangonde.

According to Ndala the suspects will soon be taken to court after interrogations process are done.

Chakwera off to New York for UNGA general assembly

President Lazarus Chakwera has left the country for New York in United States of America ( USA) where he will physically attend the 77th United Nations General Assembly for the first time.

The President and the First Lady Madam Monica Chakwera left the country through the Kamuzu International Airport in Lilongwe.

Chakwera was seen off by Vice President Saulos Chilima, cabinet ministers and other government officials.

He is scheduled to address the UNGA on 22 September 2022.

Apart from addressing the UNGA, the President will hold 40 side meetings in the next 15 days with world leaders and heads of various international institutions all geared towards mobilising over $1 billion for various key sectors in Malawi.

Minister of information and digitisation, Gospel Kazako, said the assembly is a good platform for dealing with challenges the country is facing.

Sad news as 3 members of one family found dead in Nyambadwe

Three family members have been found dead in Nyambadwe, Blantyre. It is believed that the three have died of carbon monoxide poisoning emitted from a charcoal burner

Ndirande Police Spokesperson, Widson Nhlane, confirmed the development saying the deceased are a couple and their child.

The deceased have not been named yet but Police are in touch and giving support to their next of kin

Nhlane said police were alerted by residents of the incident, and postmortem results indicate that the three died of carbon monoxide emitted by a charcoal burner.
