Malawi President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has accused Agricultural Development and Marketing Corporation (ADMARC) for their delays in distribution of maize into their depots for people to access.

He was speaking at Mwenelondo Primary School in Karonga where he undertook a series of disaster impact inspection tours.

Chakwera said ADMARC is a key service provider as far as maize distribution supply chain is concerned.

The Malawi leader said it is sad to hear Senior Chief Mwankhunikila complaining of inavalability of maize and yet the country has enough maize.

“You are much into paper work taking time than to act whenever such problems occur,” he said.

Speaking earlier, Paramount Chief Kyungu of Karonga and Chitipa described President Chakwera as “a true father of the Malawi nation,” referring to the President’s affirmative actions and response in the aftermath of Cyclone Freddy.

“Thank you Your Excellency for hearing our cries and for holding our hands. You have demonstrated that you are a true father of the nation,” said Kyungu.

According to the traditional leader, soon after the Cyclone had hit the country, the President swiftly responded to the national tragedy and led the nation in alleviating the the sufferings among victims of the disaster.

Kyungu added that it is also pleasing to note that President Chakwera continues to physically comfort the victims across the country, while also appreciating the extent of the damage countrywide.

Kyungu has since appealed to all Malawians to exercise love, togetherness and respect as the country embarks on reconstruction efforts during post-cyclone era, irrespective of political divide.
