Death has been announced of the Brazilian football legend Pele. Pele died on Thursday evening December 29,2022 at the age of 82.
According to BBC the footballer had been suffering from kidney and prostate problems in recent years and was expected to have his tumour removed from his colon in September 2021 at the Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo, after the tumour was detected in routine tests.
He was readmitted to hospital in late November 2022

Some football history portals say that Pele was the greatest football player, who was credited with scoring a world record 1,281 goals in 1,363 appearances during a 21-year career, including 77 goals in 92 matches for his country.
He is also the only player to win the World Cup three times, lifting the trophy in 1958, 1962 and 1970, Pele was named Fifa’s Player of the Century in 2000.
In its quest to strengthen professionalism in private education institutions, the Private Schools Association of Malawi ( PRISAM) says it has put in place plans to work with the county’s universities so as to offer qualified training to teachers.
The Association’s Vice President Patricia Chisi disclosed this on Thursday December, 29,2022 during a meeting the association held in Bangwe, Blantyre with school directors and officials from St John the Baptist DMI University as well as Domasi College of Education.
Chisi said upon signing a memorandum of understanding, private school teachers will have a chance to attain teaching Diplomas and Degrees from universities like DMI, thereby improving education standards in the country.
“They came to showcase their packages and as PRISAM we are very excited and ready to partner with the two institutions for the improvement of our teachers’ education qualifications, “said Chisi.
She then called on private schools to register with PRISAM in order to benefit such opportunities.
“There is a perception that most teachers in private schools do not have necessary qualifications, we want to change that narrative, “added Chisi
Senior lecturer at Domasi College of Education Dr Grecious Gadama said the school is ready to train teachers from private schools under PRISAM on skills and methodologies recommended by MANEB.
DMI University Principal George Michael commended the plans of the association saying they have a great potential in contributing towards the uplifting of education standards in Malawi.
” This is a very great initiative and we hope it will uplift the private tertiary education in the country, ” commended Michael.
PRISAM was originally started years back with late Morton Chipimpha Mughogho of Phwezi foundation school as one of the founders.
Its vision is to ensure that private schools have got good decent structures, and also facilitate the registration and accreditation of schools.
The grouping also ensures that teachers are offered good perks and an opportunity to further their studies.
As part of making a smooth way of his music career, musician and medical doctor by profession Joram Nyirongo has launched a three year strategic plan which will guide his activities in the music industry from 2023 to 2026.
Speaking to journalists in Lilongwe on Thursday evening December 29,2022, Nyirongo, who has two albums; Serious decisions and 1987 said he aims at taking his music to the International level hence the plan.
” I want to be heard at the international level and this is one of the most imitative I can reach that, ” said Nyirongo.

The artist then unveiled Levison Msakambewa as his new manager.
The musician since then advised his fellow musicians to take time to work on their songs in order to come up with good products.
” Let’s always be serious and creative enough when composing songs. We have to produce songs that can have the space at international level, ” he said.
Apart from being a singer and a doctor by profession, Nyirongo is also a song writer and a guitarist.
He has been in the limelight of late for his album ‘1987’ which he released in 2021.
He recorded his first song in 2010 in which he was telling the story of a girl who never seemed to like him back then despite all his attempts.
Nyasa Big Bullets Reserve are the champions of the Nyasa Capital Finance Cup after beating Ndirande Stars 2-1 at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.
Emmanuel Savieli opened the scoring for the Young Bullets with a brilliant shot inside the 18-yard box in the 58th minute.
The second goal for Bullets Reserve came in the 80th minute through Chikumbutso Salima who slotted home after receiving a brilliant pass from Franklin Titani.
Stuart Kalima scored the consolation for Ndirande Stars.
As the Champions, Bullets Reserve have received K1.5 million while Ndirande Stars have pocketed K600,000 for finishing as runners up.
Balaka FC and Nsanje United went home with K250,000 and K100,000 for finishing third and fourth respectively.
This is the second trophy for Young Bullets in a space of four days as they were crowned Champions of the Aubrey Dimba Trophy after defeating Silver Strikers Reserve.
The Nyasa Capital Finance Cup is the fourth silverware for the team which also second in the FDH Cup after loosing to their senior side, Nyasa Big Bullets.
