More than five people have sustained injuries following a road accident that occurred last night near Nyungwe Primary School in Chiradzulu District.

According to eyewitness Gracian Jafali, the accident happened along the road that connects Limbe to Zomba.

Jafali explained that the accident involved a Hilux vehicle that veered off its lane and collided with a minibus that was travelling from the direction of Limbe.

He further stated that the minibus was carrying five people, including the driver, and all of them were injured in the collision.

Out of the four people who were in the Hilux, only the driver sustained injuries, while the rest escaped unhurt.

The injured individuals were initially taken to Namadzi Health Centre for treatment.

Some of the victims were treated and discharged, while others were later referred to Zomba Central Hospital where they continue to receive medical attention.

At the moment, police say they need more time before they can issue an official statement on the matter.

The home side started the game very well and they got their first chance 9 minutes from kick-off through Babangida Ishaya but his shot was saved by Mighty Wanderers goalkeeper Chancy Mtete.

Five minutes later Ishaya had another chance to open the scoring but his shot went wide for a goal kick to the visitors.
