Nkhatabay MP Ken Zikhale speaks highly of this year’s budget

Member of Parliament for Nkhatabay South Constituency , Hon Ken Zikhale Ng’oma has recommended and supported the Budget which was presented by the Minister of Finance Hon Sosten Gwengwe.

Zikhale Ng’oma was Speaking in Parliament during the week. He said the Chakwera’s Government has taken a firm stand to make sure that the Budget falls within the borrowing limits set by Parliament. He said the Ministry of Finance has bring in Prudence , transparency and Accountability.

Zikhale also blasted and crushed into pieces the Statement made by Zomba Likangala MP on the SONA. Zikhale said this Budget is in the best interest of Malawians henceforth he supports the Budget. Hon Ken Zikhale Ng’oma also said Dr Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera is showing the wise Leadership . He also urged MPs to support the Budget regardless of Political Parties they are belonging to.

Hon Zikhale also thanked His Excellency the State President of the Republic of Malawi Dr Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera for appointing young , energetic and Strategic Hon Sosten Gwengwe as Minister of Finance. Hon Zikhale also anounced in Parliament that Nkhatabay district supports the Budget. Chiefs Fukamapiri , Zilakhoma and Malengamzoma of Nkhatabay are also in full support of the Current Budget .

Red Lions roar to victory!
Beat Silver Strikers 1-0 at Balaka Stadium

Royal Bokosi scored the only goal of the match as Red Lions won their first match of the 2022 TNM super league season, edging capital city giants Silver Strikers 1-0 in a match that took place at Balaka Stadium on Sunday.

Bokosi connected the ball home for Lions in the 62nd minute to give the Zomba-based soldiers a perfect start to the season at home.

Elsewhere, Mighty Tigers were 1-nil winners over Moyale Barracks. Mphatso Kasonga scored the only goal of the match for the Kanjedza outfit.

In Lilongwe, goals from Christopher Kumwembe and Anold Masamba were enough to give Civil Service United victory over league debutants Sable Farming FC.

Rumphi United lost 0-2 at home to Dedza Dynamos. Promise Kamwendo and
Charles Chapala scored a goal each for Dynamos.

In another match played on Sunday, Arthur Moffat’s goal made the difference as Blue Eagles FC got a 1-nil away win over Salima-based Mafco FC.

In a related development the Blantyre derby match between Nyasa Big Bullets and Mighty Wanderers played on Saturday has grossed K12 Million in gate revenue.

The development means teams have taken home K2 Million each.

Police Officer Killed in a road accident in Mangochi

A marine police officer who was based at Chimwala Police Unit in Mangochi has died after being hit by a motor vehicle.

Police say the officer was crossing the road at Mwalija Trading Centre heading home.

The accident occurred on the evening of March 19, 2022.

Mangochi Police Publicist, Amina Daudi, said the police officer is identified as Sub Inspector Andrew Kandulu, 42, from Namaso-Bay Village, Traditional Authority Nankumba in Mangochi.


“The accident involved a Voxy Wagon Amarok DC, registration number BZ 8305. It was being driven by Emmanuel Namagonya, 41. He was coming from the direction of Liwonde heading towards Mangochi Boma.

“Upon arrival at Mwalija Trading Centre due to overspeeding, Namagonya lost control of the motor vehicle and hit the officer who was crossing from left to the right side of the road, ” said Daudi.

Following the impact, Kandulu sustained head injuries and was rushed to Mangochi District Hospital where he died while receiving treatment.

In the meantime, the driver is in police custody waiting for court proceedings.

This is the second incident in a space of a month. On 17 February 2022, a cruising Sienta vehicle also hit a police officer in the district and was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

Mlaka Maliro warns people spreading ‘lies’ about his wife

Veteran musician-cum-pastor Macdonald Mlaka Maliro has fired warning shots at people whom he said have been spreading lies about his wife Bernadetta.

Speaking during a scintillating live performance at Mibawa Multipurpose Hall in Blantyre, the former
Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) Church pastor said there are people who are busy attacking his wife by spreading false information about her.

The singer vowed to fight those people and warned that he will reveal their secrets if they continue attacking her.

He said, “There are people who are busy spreading lies about my wife and I want to tell them this;” “If you touch my wife you touch me. I will come for you. I will reveal all your secrets.”

Mlaka’s threats comes days after Prophet Bushiri’s spokesperson Ephraim Nyondo released a statement claiming that the Dzanja Lalemba hit-maker left Eswatini, where he was serving as an ECG pastor, because his wife had disciplinary issues.

During the week, Social media was also awash with rumours that Mlaka’s wife was involved in promiscuity whilst in Eswatini.

Mlaka announced his resignation from the ECG and there has been speculations that he is going to start his own church in Balaka where he has built his house and a Church building.

Bullets wins Blantyre derby bragging rights

The much awaited Blantyre derby between city-rivals Nyasa Big Bullets and Mighty Wanderers ended in song and dance for the former, who beat Wanderers 2-1 on Saturday at the Kamuzu Stadium.

Flames midfielder Chimwemwe Idana opened the accounts for Bullets in the 16th minute before the Lali Lubani side equalised in the 78th minute through Vincent Nyangulu.

Substitute Anthony Mfune scored Bullets’ winner in the 84th minute with his first kick of the game just seconds after being introduced to give the Ndirande outfit a perfect start to the season.

Mfune’s goal sent Bullets’ fans into a delirium of song and dance all the way to the team’s club house.

In other matches played on Saturday, Karonga United lost 1-3 to Kamuzu Barracks.Deus Mkutu, Chimwemwe Chisambi and Gregory Nachipo were on target for the soldiers while Khumbo Msowoya scored the consolation for Karonga.

In Mzuzu, Ekwendeni Hammers were 2-0 winners over Kasungu based TN Stars. The two goals were scored by Bongani Zulu and
Edgar Mgagana.
