The chieftacy wrangles of the Chikulamayembe kingdom might have come to the end now after President Chakwera has signed as to who is the rightful person for the role.
President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has approved the installation of Joseph Bongololo Gondwe as Paramount Chief Chikulamayembe.
He replaces Mtima Gondwe who has been acting in that capacity following his dethronement by the high court for irregular ascendency to the throne after a legal challenge by Bongololo Gondwe.
District Commissioner for Rumphi, Emmanuel Bulukutu has confirmed the news and has also communicated the same to royal family members.
In an effort to promote quality education in the country, Kasungu-based non-governmental organization, NatureKit, on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, donated 30 desks to Nkhanga Primary School in Makembambo Village, Sub-Traditional Authority (STA) Chisinga in Kasungu.
Speaking in after the donation, the organization’s Acting Leader Steve Makumba said the donation was made after noting that the school has no enough desks, a development that discourages the students to work hard in their studies.
Makumba said, the desks will now ease some of the challenges that the learners at the school face during learning and provide conducive learning environment for the them.
“I hope the desks will definitely provide a better learning environment to the learners. Sitting on the floor is very tiring and reduces concentration in learners. We hope that this donation has come at the right time for them,” he said.
Makumba then called on government and other well-wishers to emulate what NatureKit has done and rescue over 500 learners who are sitting on the floor when learning.
“At Naturekit, we have managed to donate 30 desks. We have at least done our best. We are therefore, calling for more well-wishers to come in and support the school which has over 500 learners in total,” said Mtika.
In his remarks, the school head teacher Lucky Kumwenda commended Naturekit for the donation.
Kumwenda also called on other well-wishers to join the move and support the school with desks more desks in all classes saying this is the only way where learners can work hard in their classes.
“To say the truth, this challenge is contributing to poor attendance among the learners. We are experiencing low class attendances because of this challenge as most of the time, the learners do not feel comfortable sitting on the floor while learning.
“We are very happy that Naturekit has done its part in supporting us, we feel honored with the donation and we are calling on other well-wishers to do what Naturekit has done,” said Kumwenda
In her her remarks, one of the students at the school Magret Tembo also expressed her happiness with the donation.
” We are very happy with the desks. At first, for us female students, it was hard to stand up and answer questions from the teachers, but now with the desks, this will no longer be a challenge,” said Tembo.
Last year, Naturekit also donated 30 desks in some classes at the school so as to ease the challenges the students were facing.
Naturekit is a youth-led organization which tackles issues pertaining to environmental conservation with an aim of changing youths and community mindset towards environmental conservation so as to support biodiversity and ecosystem.
The donation was made possible with the financial support from Umunthu Movement Switzerland and Herz Jesu Orlekon.
Vice President Dr Saulos Chilima has hailed the cordial relationship existing within councils saying it’s a recipe for development.
Dr Chilima made the remarks after attending a full council meeting at Nkhotakota District Council that was aimed at tracking progress on the Public Sector Reforms.
While in Nkhotakota, the Vice President appreciated the progress made by the council on government reforms.
He also visited Nkhotakota Wild Reserve where he appreciated some transformational initiatives being made at the facility as a move to promote tourism in the district.
Dr Chilima also inspected infrastructure development being undertaken to improve revenue collection at the facility.
The project includes the construction of an administration block and an education centre.
Speaking at the end of the tour, Dr Chilima said he is impressed with the strides made so far by the council.
Parks Manager, David Nangoma, welcomes the VP at Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve.
“The vibrant financial management system this council is using is as a result of teamwork by all stakeholders. I urge all councils to be self-reliant by encouraging local generation of revenue,” said Chilima.
And on Kaphatenga-Nkhotakota Road construction, Dr Chilima has assured the masses who gathered at the Boma that all is set for the contractor to commence the project in April.
He said the Kaphatenga-Nkhotakota-NkhataBay road network is crucial for the social-economic development of the country.
“I want to assure the people of Nkhotakota that the contractor for the Kaphatenga- Nkhotakota Road has already been identified and the works will start next month,” said Dr Chilima.
The Vice President is visiting various local councils across the country to appreciate progress on projects in line with the Public Sector Reforms.
Its a sad day for Zambians and its neighbours as the country has lost its former president. Rupiah Bwezani Banda has died at the age of 85 after a 2 year battle with colon cancer. He was the fourth President of Zambia from 2008 to 2011

Following the 2006 parliamentary elections, he was appointed Vice-President of the Zambia when Levi Mwanawasa won the presidency. He assumed the presidency of Mwanawasa following Mwanawasa’s stroke in June 2008, and became acting president following Mwanawasa’s death in August 2008. A candidate for the multi-party Democratic ruling movement, he won the presidential election in October 2008. In elections of September 2011, he was defeated by opposition leader Michael Sata.

Mid Point Limited Company, a supplier of medical equipment plying its in Area 3, Lilongwe on Thursday March 10,22 donated K500,000 towards responding to the needs of people affected by Tropical Storm Ana in the country.
Handing over the cheque to the Department of Disaster Management Affairs ( DoDMA) officials at Capital Hill in Lilongwe, Mid Point Limited Company Operations Manager Vipin Pillai the gesture comes as a way of answering Presidet Lazarus Chakwera’ s appeal for assistance after he declared a state of disaster
Pillai said, it is a cooperate responsibility of every company to join hands with those in need when such circumstances arise.
” As a corporate company in Malawi, we felt the urge to join other stakeholders to extend a hand to people affected by Ana.
” We believe that this contribution will cater for some needs of the affected and make a difference in their lives,” said Pillai.
In his remarks, DoDMA’s Deputy Director of response, Fyawupi Mwafongo thanked Mid Point for the gesture and positively responding to the President’s call.
” Currently, the department is working on decommissioning the camps which will require that the affected get packages that will assist them to settle.
” We are mobilizing resources for those affected by Tropical Storm Ana, and shelter remain remains one of the key needs. The funds you have provided today will greatly assist the department in the procurement of necessary shelter materials.
He then appealed to companies, individuals and other stakeholders to emulate Mid Point Limited’s gesture.
