The leading agricultural company SeedCo Malawi Limited on Thursday won an award for being the best manufacturer in the country at the 35th Malawi International Trade Fair in Blantyre.

The award was presented to the company by President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera who presided over the opening of the trade fair.

In an interview with 247 Malawi News, Regional Sales Manager for SeedCo Malawi Limited Benson Banda attributed the success to the company’s commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.

“We always stand on quality and if you see our products, we do not compromise.” said Banda.

He said the company’s varieties have performed well despite recent dry spells in the country, with farmers providing positive feedback.

Banda indicated that SeedCo Malawi Limited has a strong presence across the country, with its own shops and distributors in various regions.

He said the company is  also in partnership with the government’s Affordable Inputs Program(AIP) so as to ensure its products are widely available.

On her part, SeedCo Malawi Limited Marketing Manager Oneka Sitali said they are currently taking steps to combat the proliferation of counterfeit seeds in the market.

She said the company is also expanding its reach by opening more shops across the country.

Sitali said currently, SeedCo Malawi Limited has 12 shops nationwide, and plans to add five more by the end of June.

“This expansion aims to ensure that genuine, quality seeds are accessible to farmers nationwide,” she said.

In addition to its shop expansion, Sitali said the company has introduced a prepayment program, now in its third year.

She explained that the program allows farmers to purchase seeds in installments, paying bit by bit.

“To make the program more accessible, we have developed a USSD platform, accessible by dialing *2027#.

“Through this platform, farmers can view our product portfolio, price list, and make payments,” said Sitali.

She emphasized that this initiative aims to make it easier for farmers to access quality seeds and make payments.

With 25 years of dedication to Malawi and 85 years of international expertise, SeedCo remains committed to delivering high-quality, climate-smart seed varieties.

The company continues to innovate and provide solutions for farmers, ensuring a brighter future for generations to come – for the next 85 years and beyond.

Creck Sporting Club has announced that it will release the findings of its internal review regarding the suspension of head coach Joseph Kamwendo next week.

The decision follows a disciplinary hearing held on Thursday night, where Kamwendo, his assistant Abel Mkandawire, and striker trainer Chiukepo Msowoya were summoned to share their perspectives on the team’s poor performance.

The club’s chairperson, Muhammad Selemani, confirmed that the hearing was conducted to allow the trio to provide insight before a final decision is made.

Selemani also addressed speculation surrounding potential replacements for Kamwendo, dismissing reports linking Creck with former Malawi National Team coach Ernest Mtawali as mere speculation.

Creck currently struggles in the TNM Super League, sitting 14th with five points from six matches.

The team has registered one win, two draws, and three losses, scoring just three goals while conceding nine.
