A group of concerned citizens in Kasungu has petitioned the Ministry of Homeland Security and the Inspector General of Police, seeking urgent action to address a string of attacks by unknown assailants targeting motorbikes.
The recent trend has left residents shaken, with three lives lost in the past month alone. Last month, a man was killed, and yesterday, two men from the same village met the same fate.
Speaking to this reporter , Charles Dokera, representative for the people of Chisinga, Chulu, and Mphomwa in Kasungu, expressed deep concern over the escalating violence.
“The situation is getting out of hand, and we need immediate action from the authorities,” Dokera said. “We urge the police to engage local stakeholders to identify the root cause of the security lapse in our areas.”
The petitioners are calling for increased security measures, including regular patrols and community policing initiatives, to prevent further attacks.
“We cannot continue to live in fear,” Dokera said. “We need the authorities to take our concerns seriously and work with us to find a solution.”
The attacks have not only resulted in loss of life but have also left many residents traumatized.
“It’s like living in a war zone,” said one resident, who wished to remain anonymous. “We don’t know when or where the next attack will happen.”
The authorities have yet to comment on the petition, but residents are hopeful that their concerns will be taken seriously.
“We just want to live in peace,” Dokera said. “We urge the authorities to work with us to make that a reality.”
The situation in Kasungu remains tense, with residents on high alert, waiting for a response from the authorities.
As the investigation continues, residents are advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
The petitioners are calling for a swift and decisive response to address the security concerns in Kasungu.
“We will not rest until our concerns are addressed,” Dokera said.
The people of Kasungu wait with bated breath for a response from the authorities, hoping that their concerns will be taken seriously and that peace will be restored to their community.
