By Burnett Munthali

Silver Strikers FC has confirmed the resignation of Peter Mponda from his position as head coach. This announcement was made through a statement released by the club, which came shortly after Mponda had signed a two-year contract with the team.

Mponda’s tenure as head coach lasted just 11 months, during which he successfully led the club to win the TNM Super League title, marking an important achievement in the club’s history. Despite the success, Mponda’s decision to step down has raised questions, particularly as it comes only a short time after the conclusion of his contract.

Mponda

Rumors have already begun circulating that Mponda may be considering a return to his former club, Nyasa Big Bullets, a team where he made a significant impact during his playing career. While these speculations have yet to be confirmed, the possibility of his return to Bullets has been a topic of discussion among football fans and commentators alike.

This unexpected development has left many wondering about the reasons behind Mponda’s resignation. Despite his relatively short time in charge, Mponda’s contributions to Silver Strikers have been widely acknowledged, especially for his leadership in securing the team’s league championship.

The future of both Mponda and Silver Strikers FC is now uncertain, with fans eagerly awaiting further developments as the club looks to fill the vacant coaching position and determine its next steps in the new season.

The Vice President of Malawi, Dr. Michael Usi, has vowed that the government will take action against anyone engaging in fraudulent activities related to food relief distribution aimed at assisting hunger-stricken families.

Dr. Usi made these remarks at Chikwawa Primary School, where he spearheaded the distribution of maize to 961 households affected by hunger in Senior Chief Lundu’s area in Chikwawa District.

Usi

Speaking at the event, Dr. Usi emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring transparency and fairness in the distribution process. “We are here to make sure there is no corruption and that only those truly in need receive this aid,” he said.

The initiative, coordinated through the Department of Disaster Management Affairs (DoDMA), aims to provide timely assistance to vulnerable households affected by food shortages.

Dr. Usi also announced plans to extend the food relief program to Senior Chief Ndalama’s area in Thyolo District, where approximately 2,000 households are expected to receive a 50-kilogram bag of maize per family.

The Vice President’s involvement in these efforts underscores the government’s determination to uphold accountability and ensure that relief reaches the intended beneficiaries. By taking a hands-on approach, Dr. Usi aims to address any potential irregularities and restore public trust in the distribution process.

This proactive stance is part of a broader strategy by the government to mitigate the impact of food insecurity and support the livelihoods of vulnerable communities across Malawi.

By Chisomo Phiri

Prominent lawyer Alexious Kamangila has described late Vice President Saulos Chilima as a person who was a great beneficiary of corruption in the country’s judiciary.

Writing on his official Facebook page, Kamangila has asked Malawians to ask any United Transformation Movement (UTM) member where did the party get the money to buy so many cars at once.

Read some of Kamangila’s posts on his Facebook page:”Now SKC fans akuti ndaluza focus. Well, Chilima is one great beneficiary of Corruption in the Judiciary. Discussing SKC is actually being so FOCUSED.

“So UTM & SKC fans will always want you to believe that Sattar paid everyone important in Government but that the money SKC received from Sattar was clean. Uchitsiru.

“Amene akwiya kuti ndati SKC analinso wakuba, mungowafunsa kuti, ndalama za Sattar analandira kapena ayi? Muona angoyamba kukulalatira osapereka yankho.

Chilima

“I am waiting for the day the Catholic Church in Malawi will criticize SKC and Ralph for their Corruption. God guide your Church to speak the truth always.

“Stop this Idolatry of SKC. For Corruption to end, mzofunika kuti tisiye kuganiza mogunata. Ambuye akudalitseni. Mwakoma nonse kupatula the corrupt.

“For all the proceeds of crime that Chilima or his deceased estate benefited from corruption,  through the Law of Trust, we can recover that money, with interest.

“Ine za Chilima ndinayamba kuyankhulapo kalekale. So allow me to enjoy my right to freely express myself.Death of the discussed/subject,  is not an acceptable ground to limit such right. I refer you to Section 44 of the Constitution of Malawi.

“Of course I am stupid and I have lost Focus. Komabe Ndalama zogulira Magalimoto onsewa UTM inatenga kuti?

“Of course SKC can’t speak now, but Khwesi Msusa and others can explain where UTM has been getting money since 2018. Otsikatsikani silently, monga munachitira pokwera.”

Kamangila has since vowed to go live on his official Facebook page from 5:00 pm today to expose how the late Chilima was involved in corruption in the country’s judiciary.

By Vincent Gunde

Sita has observed that most local artists are dying poor besides their pieces of music circulating in the country making fun in many households but they get zero Kwacha after spending days composing pieces of music for the people.

Sita wants to emulate the success of veteran Giddes Chalamanda -pictured

He said he would have loved if President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera invite him to the State House to share his concerns as well as those of fellow local artists expressing doubts that the President is not aware of their sufferings because he has said and done to them, nothing.

Captured at Mgona Township in Lilongwe where he is used to mesmerizing fans with his gospel and social pieces of music, Sita said he charge K500 for every piece of music played but not all pay the amount and as a result, he accepts any money provided he has something in his pockets.

Sita who plays guitar, foot drums and other musical instruments accompanying his pieces of music alone, is joined by his sister Rose, who has an excellent voice demanding established musicians to get contacts for her, she is a beauty to watch.

Josephy Sita said with the little money they get from their shows, they are able to buy food and pay house rentals at Bagdad in Aea 49-Lilongwe saying what they want most is not advertising their pieces of music to be played on the radio but invitation to perform anywhere in Malawi.

“What we are looking for is exposure for our talent to reach out to many with or without our music played on the radio,” said Rose Sita.

The two acoustic musicians are being seen every day in trading centres performing their music together with some suspecting them as married couples but Rose, has dismissed this assertion as not true, saying the two, are a brother and sister from the same family.

Josephy and Rose Sita have assured their fans that they will remain acoustic musicians with or without support but they are praying hard each and every day so that well wishers including President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera can come to their rescue for their talents to bear fruits.
