Chakwera urges Malawians to continue praying for nation’s progress

President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has urged Malawians to continue praying for Malawi and its future.

Chakwera was speaking on Sunday at Lingadzi Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP) in Lilongwe’s Area 12, where he took part in a service of worship.

The president expressed heartfelt appreciation for the unwavering commitment and dedication of the Lingadzi CCAP to praying for the progress of the country.

Chakwera emphasized the importance of seeking divine guidance for the development of the nation and cultivating a culture of collective responsibility, encapsulated in the “Brother’s Keeper” mentality.

The Malawi leader also graciously acknowledged the invaluable support received from the CCAP church, both publicly and privately, underscoring the pivotal role of this unified spiritual foundation in fortifying the nation of Malawi.

He implored fellow Malawians to persist in seeking divine intervention for the advancement of the country across all facets, aspiring to propel Malawi into becoming a self-reliant and flourishing nation.

President Chakwera applauded the CCAP Church for spearheading various developmental projects.

He passionately urged all members to wholeheartedly engage in these initiatives and continue to steadfastly support one another in this noble pursuit.

On his part, Professor Sam Phiri, the Clerk for Lingadzi CCAP, commended President Chakwera’s unyielding support for the Lingadzi CCAP congregation and the entire assembly present at the service of worship.

Phiri disclosed the positive strides made by the church in terms of membership and their potent impact through pivotal developmental endeavors, underscoring their indispensable significance in the country’s transformative journey.

In his remarks, Resident Minister for Lingadzi CCAP, Davie Franklin Salimoni, commended President Chakwera for gracing the church service with his presence, despite his demanding schedule.

Salimoni praised the President’s unwavering commitment to orchestrating the Service of Worship at Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in commemoration of the 60th independence anniversary, lauding this demonstration of leadership and reverence.

Salimoni also recounted the relentless trials and tribulations that have beset Malawi in recent years.

Inside sources within the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) have confided to the media that Dr. Dalitso Kabambe, the former Reserve Bank Governor and presidential candidate for the DPP, has resigned with immediate effect.

The source reveals that Kabambe has already submitted his resignation letter to the party’s President, Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika.

Chihana holds key to Malawi’s economic growth-Maluwa

Alliance for Democracy (AFORD) Publicity Secretary, Annie Maluwa, has urged Malawians to vote for Enock Chihana as the Malawi’s 7th president during the 2025 elections,saying he holds the key to Malawi’s economic growth.

Maluwa made the appeal during a political rally at Katoto Ground in Mzuzu on Sunday.

“My fellow Malawians, let us unite and vote for Enock Chihana as our next President in the 2025 elections,” said Maluwa.

She then asked Chihana to keep strong and continue fighting for Malawi, as the country needs a strong and wise leader like him.

Maluwa added that AFORD is ready to put candidates in all constituencies and wards, together with Chihana as the president.

Donald Trump Targeted in assassination attempt during Pennsylvania Rally

Former USA President and Republican  Party nominee for the November elections, Donald Trump narrowly escaped an assassination attempt during a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday, according to two law enforcement officials. The former president was struck by a bullet and sustained injuries to his ear before being swiftly protected by Secret Service agents.

Trump, who took to his Truth Social account approximately two and a half hours after the incident, described the harrowing moment: “A bullet pierced the upper part of my right ear. I heard a whizzing sound and shots, then felt the bullet ripping through the skin,” he wrote. Despite the severe injury and significant bleeding, Trump assured his supporters he was “fine.”

The attack resulted in the deaths of the suspected gunman and at least one rally attendee. Two other spectators were reported to be in critical condition. The Secret Service neutralized the shooter at the scene, marking this as the most serious assassination attempt on a presidential candidate since Ronald Reagan was shot in 1981.

The incident occurs amid heightened political tensions, with just four months until the presidential election and days before Trump is expected to be formally confirmed as the Republican nominee at his party’s convention.
